    Hi Denise,

How long have you been on 40mg? As the highest dose it can take a while to get used to, settle down and find your level again.

I have been on 40mg since March, having increased in 10mg stages and apart from a big Family event in June followed by ENT treatment at the local general hospital and most recent major stomach surgery things have settled for me. Although I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I have to keep their mind off their meds! Lol!

As many will say, keep with it, it does get better! I will vouch for that.

I hope things settle for you soon.

    Regards,

    David

This medicine can make you feel tired.  I think the main thing at the moment is that you're feeling well, so I'd see how you go for a while and as David said, it should level out.  If in time you still feel tired then maybe your doctor could adjust your dose to see see if that helps.

40mg is the maximum dose - it's often trial and error getting a dose that suits you.

Hello David by the way :-)

hi kate i was on this medicine  about 5 years ago on30mg it took a while to work about 5 months, came of them a year ago,but bk on them now think i rushed to 40mg,do you think i shud of just took 30mg again,x

It's tempting to rush into taking a large dose hoping we'll get better quicker  I think if 30mg worked before then it should work again.  I came off 2 years ago for a year, but restarted last year back on 20mg again, and waiting for them to kick in seemed to take forever this time.  I've only ever taken 20mg max and have now reduced to 5mg which I'll stay on.

Maybe if you feel well on 40mg then speak to your doctor about reducing to the dose you were on before.

I restarted last August and though the anxiety stop after a couple of months I still felt uneasy and 'not right' by Christmas.  I didn't feel bad, but just had a continuous flat feeling that just seemed endless.  I think it was January/February before I started feeling happy and at ease.  Seemed to take longer this time round.  I'm now feeling very happy again.

glad youe feeling happy again,i feel like most of the anxiety as gone.still feel of it wen i wake up,so i just get up instead of staying in bed,am ok wen i can just do wot i want in the day and no body pressures me to do anything,is that normal,x

      dee xx

Yes it does sound normal - it was like that for me.  The anxiety disappeared first and found I was fine when I had no pressure.  As long as I pottered about I was fine - it's allowing your body to heal, no stress, pressure ..... eventually I felt happier and able to take on more pressure.

hi kate, will i start feeling bad again if i drop my meds to 30mg,or will i just stay the same as i am now,x

You might feel a bit low, but then again you may feel better for it, but whatever happens you will level out eventually.  You've taken 30mg before so know this dose works for you.  It wouldn't hurt to lower if you feel it would be better.  Sometimes a higher dose just doesn't suit some people.

Maybe be try it and see how you go.  Don't forget to see your doctor too though xx

      Morning Denise,

Please do not forget that if you are dropping by 10mg it may be (only maybe) a little worse than dropping by 5mgs at a time. I started to reduce from 40mg to 30mg every other day back in July and had to stop due to events that threw themselves at me. I did notice over the few days I did this alternately I had a bit of bad withdrawl - if that's what you call it. After discussing with my Dr I bought a pill slicer and when I restart the reduction (I see my Dr tomorrow to discuss when) I shall do this by only 5mgs. So, that would be 40mgs one day, then 35mg the next, then 40mgs the next, then 35mg and so on. For two weeks or until I am comfortable with it. Saying that, who knows I may never reduce at all or if I do, may never completely come off!

Some have, rightly, said why reduce if you are feeling at a good place? Well, I have to give it a go to know.

Good luck with your reduction and as Kate mentioned Keep in touch.

      All the very Best,

      David

It is always a good idea to listen to your body as only you know it best. Idefinitely let you and everyone else know hwen it starts and how it goes. A day by day account so others may learn and at the same time I'll accept any advice that helps me.

Since being, physcally, ill recently and generally being all over the place since June I am not sure of some things re this forum. So, forgive me if I have mentioned this to you already. As Kate recommended to me while on Cita and when reducing, vitamin D3 and B6 help the old serotonin levels which I am taking at the moment.

      Will keep you all updated!

      Regards,

      David

As David says, you know your own body and maybe it's good to continue on 40mg for now.  A high dose can be making you feel tired, but maybe in time you may feel like reducing it if it continues making you feel like that.

I don't have a problem going anywhere as I love going away, but do know some people do feel a little anxious thinking about being away from home.  It could be that you're not feeling yourself and you'll feel different in time.  Do you know what makes you feel worked up?  Is it the thought of being away from home, being in a different place, the effort of packing?  Maybe you could do days out for a while if you're comfy with that, or even try 1 night away quite local so you're not far from home?  If you're quite local you can always go home if you really need to.  Just some ideas xxxx
