how does an outbreak start?

I'm just curious if anyone can tell me how an out break starts how will I know when to go back to the doctor? What are the symptoms? I've already had one, maybe two months ago but it was my first and I don't really remember how it started.

Usually it starts w itching, tingling, hiring a little when you pee, possibly strange nerve sensations, pain in the lower back, back of thighs and buttock... It can be all of those, some of those or just one of those. Everybody's body is different. I have symptoms every single day and even mild obs taking 1000mlgs of valtrex daily.. So I've not gone a day where I've felt normal an entire 24hrs before

my first out break was horrible but the medicine worked fast and I felt normal after that but I have a uti and don't know if the burning is from my uti or an outbreak my lady parts are also kind of sore but honestly that could be from the result of recent sexual endeavors

Well... I can say that several times a month, especially before, during and right after my period, I have slight burning when I pee. I've never had sex again since my incident 7 months ago catching this, so I've no idea; however, I do dread sex and have this expectation that it would be painful.

I have as you, wondered if I was having a uti or was it herpes. The fundamental difference I have learned is, the hot/burning sensations only really happen as it exits and not intetnally. Usually w a UTI it starts off like that, but eventually you feel discomfort from where your bladder would be. In my experience, you will no the difference. Can you elaborate more on your symptoms, as you're just asking and not every infection afys the same. I've had UTIs be nothing w mild hot urine, to one morning it felt hot when I went, thought I was dehydrated, to the next to hrs being in excruciating pain and peeing blood. Never the same. So it may help if you list all symptoms

It's constantly burning and kind of itching off and on.my gut says it's the beginning of an outbreak but maybe I'm being paranoid.

I feel so bad for you and just what it seems you go through. you always answer my posts heck I think I see you answer most posts, but my point is for as much as you seem to be willing to help and give advice to others karma sure isn't being very nice to you and I sincerely hope that something eases up i couldn't imagine your pain and I thought mine got bad. I thank you for talking with me every time I have a question or concern or just post a rant about how much it hurts or I'm ashamed of this.

Oh honey.... You don't need to feel guilty about what you go through ever. I'm lucky, although I spend most times feeling like I'm not; that i have medicine that stops it from being painful at least. Can I be in a relationship and likely not pass it? No.. So having a romantic partner is out of the question, but for me my life has always since the youngest I've remembered; been that of a rejected person. I am used to that.. This is nothing new and I'm pretty well equipped to deal w being alone and most aren't. So I'll be ok. I respond, because nobody ever deserves to feel like I have ever in my life...

The thought of others feeling the things I have, makes a tear run down my cheek as we speak. So honestly, taking ten mins, if that out of my day to give someone some hope, is the least bi could do. Cost me nothing. I appreciate what you said, it made me cry .. In a good way of course. wink

The symptoms you are describing do sound like the herpes is active z however, that does not necessarily mean you're gonna have a full blown ob. Most people have very mild symptoms and they mistake it for a UTI and/or yeast infection

What is your biggest concern w your symptoms right Noe and how Kong has it been going on?

Start taking a probiotic daily. I am now 4 days no meds and no symptoms for the first time in 6 months ever. It works!

      - 3xs daily dose of vitamin C

      - 2xs daily dose for calcium

      - daily multi vitamin

      - 2xs daily zinc and mag

      - 1x daily omega acids

And the biggest thing I added, after reading that 70% of our immune system is in our gut and if your bacteria is off balance, your immune system will be weak. I started at the beging of the week and eventually stopped taking my valtrex. I'm on day 4, no valtrex and  that routine w the probiotics and I've had an itch like 3xs only, but mildly and like 3 nerve sensations; no breaking out.... Nothing. I think for some people antivirals may irritate more than assist, unless having an active ob. I do believe the probiotic is what's helping. Make sure you get one that makes it past your stomach acids, so it can be absorbed in your gut. Pearl probiotics seem to work well for this.

Scorpio, you need to try what I just suggested to sierra a few posts up. That is what has worked for me and I had to take daily meds for the last 6 months w symptoms every day. I am now on day 5 and pretty much sptom free. Better than I was on 1000mlgs of valtrex.

I'm now in my 60's and have genital herpes since the early 1980's.  I still get frequent outbreaks, I have one now and sometimes I hardly get any 'warning' at all, I feel a tiny tingling on my buttock (which obviously is where mine are now) and I know in a few hours, there will be a big bright red, hot patch and then the blisters appear.   Other times I get a terrible ache in my leg, right down to my foot - as I did this time.  The last twice I've had an outbreak I've had one and then a couple days later another so two at the same time. I use Aciclovir cream quite a few times a day and within a few days, the soreness has gone and the blisters start to scab over.  I am sick of this, it's been over 30 years now and my outbreaks are still quite regular.

I didn't feel right for a long time, but I feel more nor am 7 mo this later than I did the first 4 months after. You still have a rather new infection. Make sure your body is getting all the nutritional value it needs.
