How does anxiety effect your bowels like Ibs, diarrhea, constipation

just wondering how anxiety effects others bowels.

speaking for myself its really weird because my fiance gets diareaha but when i get anxiety it feels like my stomache essentially shuts down and i wont go to the bathroom for a few days or something then i get gut pain acid reflux and other exiting things happening to me.

    just know your 100% right anxiety do cause these problem, your gut is your second brain. i have all these symtoms especially cant use the washroom and now am diagnose with IBS and out of all is the worst is my acid reflux, its so bad it irritates my sinus, eyes and my ears am glad am not the only one who is experiencing these issue, its stressful it makes me more depressed and more anxious, once i dont use the i feel so backed up and them i get other problems in my body

    anxiety can cause diarrhea, constipation, colitis, (IBS). ive had them all. once was constipated for 3 weeks, other time had cramping ibs . both anxiety, stress caused. theres no limit to what anxiety and stress can do.

      thanks for the reply mine has such weird phases too makes me wonder how many others deal witj the same issues.

    i have been diagnosed with Gastritis and have to take daily medication to treat it ,it was caused by the amount of acid in my stomach due to Anxiety ,i also suffer with IBS as has already been said your stomach is your second brain

    I have that problem for 3 days. Desperately need bathroom but nothing happening. Given in and used a Dulcoease tablet. Tried everything else. The annoying thing is, when I do go, I can't stop...... Stress causes many things. My main problems are headaches and inability to sleep.
