How else to lose weight gained from having virtually no thyroid, but adequate thyroxine

Posted , 2 users are following.

Can anyone help?

I’m 26 kg heavier than I was after 24 years of having Hashimoto’s& most of my thyroid gland removed.

I am now on an almost liquid diet because I can’t seem to lose any weight.

It’s depressing to think protein shakes & soup are my staples but that’s the reality.

Hi Debra, I am sorry for your predicament, I fee for you.

I had Graves, which gave me thyroid eye disease, pre tibial myxodaema & thyroid cancer (Thyroid, the gift that keeps on giving!). I put on weight all throughout this, never lost whilst hyper Thyroid or on high dose thyroxine (which due to TED is the only treatment along with thyroidectomy for my cancer)! Sorry, the answer to your question is I don't know but if anyone else does I too would be interested!!

Not an answer I know but I totally understand! I always thought that with hypo you put weight on & hyper you lost it, but patently that isn't true of everyone! My doc just said that it happens that way for some!

I hope you find some answers
