How long has it been since you had yours done?

Misssss,
My hip was replaced April 2018. To be honest my only problem is I cannot raise the leg high, I do need to sit on the stairs when cutting my toe nails.
I do Pilates, Zumba and Step Aerobics, Walk without any problems. My legs are now level whereas, I had a huge discrepancy, minimum two inches probably more.
It was a pretty easy operation, no pain at all afterwards, the only real bugbear which everyone has is sleeping on your back.

I haven't had mine yet but I'd imagine I will probably feel very pleased to be free of pain.

Am 5 months out from thr. Have developed thigh pain in last 3 months. Surgeon took an x-4ray and will see me in 6 weeks. I had the opinion he didn't want to discuss much of my concerns - just put me off. If you are planning thr, my suggestion is to make sure you know your health (any osteopersis, etc., or if you have a smoking addition, etc). Also make sure your surgeon is willing to discuss options. Don't just rush into it. I thought it would be a "walk in the park", but it has been far from it.

Hi Misssss
The reason for my replacement was wear, supposedly in an unusual place.
It is now three years on and I am aware I have a replacement from the moment I wake up. I naively thought everyone would be left with some pain or discomfort after such a big operation. I get pain in the front of my thigh, groin pain, not so much now and any movement whereby my hip joint moves produces a sharp pain which makes lying on either side in bed difficult and is just generally unpleasant. I can't walk as I used to in the countryside, take part in the amount of outdoor volunteering I used to do and if I really want to go a distance I take pain killers. Another factor for me is that I told him he was operating on my naturally longer leg and he made it even longer and then wrote to my GP and said my leg length was good!
Before the operation as someone in my early 60s, I exercised regularly with off road running, walking, swimming and pilates and had done pilates for 20 years or so. I went back once and could not do it. Recently I joined a beginners class under a physio I have been going to, such is the change in me.
My sister was involved in an accident last October so had to have a replacement hip. She climbs mountains and does long distance riding both of which she has returned to. She walked in the Scottish Highlands doing 11 1/2 and then 15 miles last weekend.
So from speaking to other people who have forgotten they have even had a replacement and hearing of my sister's very quick recovery, I now feel there must be something wrong with me. I have spoken to my consultant on the phone, not a man who readily converses. He tells me it will be bursitis so he will give me a cortisone injection or it is my back, but I have never had back issues. If it is bursitis, it has been missed by 2 private physios and the NHS physio I was sent to. He finally said I could have an x ray although I believe these don't often show up anything. So I now await my appointment with him with some trepidation as he is not an easy man .

100% 15 months on from THR of left hip. No pain, no restriction in movement, back walking, cycling, golfing and even skiing. could not be happier. Would have given 110% but memories of my maths teacher loomed large!!!
