How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Posted , 202 users are following.

Hi:  It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before.  Professionals offer only medications and surgery.  I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years.  After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution.  Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water.  After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer.  Then burp the air out.  Make sure to always do this right before bed.  This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure.  It is the only way to strengthen this muscle.  After nearly 2 years of nexium,  I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux.  I hope you do.  Regards, John

Hi Aswydan:  You should be able to find carbonated water in most grocery stores.  It is usually stocked with the bottled water.  In the situation that you absolutely can not find a supply, then you could use a bottled diet softdrink.  Any brand you like.

Thanks John, I am going to drink the mineral and hold back the burp as you suggest, as well as drink marshmallow tea.  I am anxious to get started, but I need to wait a couple days until I finish taking the steroids for swelling in my leg. The steroids have given me other problems.  I will let you know how it works for me.  I am encouraged by your success.

    Best regards

Great!  Coincidentally, ny digestive problems started after using a steroidal nasal spray.  I believe the steroids can cause tissue changes in the digestive tract.

My wife uses an lymphedema pump at home to reduce leg swelling.  You might want to inquire about it.

Interesting about the steroid thing.  So many things prescribed to help cause other problems.  Thanks for the info on the leg pump.

Best wishes to you and your wife for good health.

Hi John. Interesting info & I will try your bicarbonate water remedy.

I have had Acid Reflux for last 5years..with medication from doctor 0meprazol but although it helped my Reflux it has lots of side effects..by accident I came across a video on You Tube about the properties of the Avocado Stone & it mentioned Digestive problems, acid Reflux & various other problems. So following the instructions in boiled the Avocado stone for 12minutes in 1 litre of water ,when cooled drink a small glass before breakfast & another before bed. After 2 days My Reflux had almost Dissapeared..NO medication. I'm on my 7th day now still no Reflux & medication free.

I hope others will try this...for me it's a miracle naturally.

Hi Susan:  Thank you for sharing that.  It is new to me.  Do you mean Avocado pit or seed?  I just want to make sure.  Did you break it open before boiling?  I have heard about bitter herbs helping with reflux.

And just to be clear, my treatment is to drink carbonated water for the bubble effect and holding down the burp to strengthen the esophageal sphincter muscle.

John, I just received the marshmallow tea.  Tell me again when you take it and how long you let it steep.  Also just another idea I might mention, my chiropractor has helped me with nausea in the last few days.  He presses and holds in certain locations on my abdomen.

I'm so glad to hear that someone is going to try the marshmallow tea.  It can be very helpful in coating the stomach and reducing nausea.  I microwave a tall cup of water to boiling, add about a 1/4 cup of marshmallow tea.  Then I let it steep 10 minutes.  It is not bad by itself but I add a bit of sugar free sweetener and a little milk.  Then I just keep it handy and take a sip every hour or two.

I think your chiropractor is pushing on nerves which send the nausea signals.  I have also used pepto bismol for that effect when needed. I had gastritis and constant nausea for over a year.  It takes a lot of work to get it under control, but it can come back very quickly.  There are medications for nausea, but I could not find one without scary side effects.  Last week I started taking B vitamins again, and for some reason it caused me to burp repeatedly and bloat all night.  I finally took some pepto and it went away.  I then bought a different brand without yeast and it was fine.  But, it just shows how quick things can go wrong.  I will soon be writing a post on treating diabetes using B vitamins, after I get more results documented.

      Keep me posted, John

    Hi John.

I used the stone/seed not the flesh...I eat that!! Just put the stone WHOLE in 1 litre of water & boil for about 12 minutes..it makes a red tea. doesnt taste of anything but I imagine one could add sugar/sweetener if needed. Drink it warm beore breakfast & 1/2 hour before bed..I'm still Acid reflux free & feel great. The stone has loads more properties also. Google it...

I am a bit concerned of what I found online.

"The toxic component in the avocado is "persin," which is a fatty acid derivative. Symptoms of toxicity include difficulty breathing, abdominal enlargement, abnormal fluid accumulations in the chest, abdomen and sac around the heart. "

Be very careful and look for any side effects of the toxin.  I think I will pass on this.

Thank you John. Very good information! I was trying to figure out how to get a avocado pit/stone since I detest avocados.

Also, looking for marshmallow tea since the website source is "temporarily unavailable " and wonder is it leaves or roots that is best?

Keep looking, there is plenty out there.  I have only used the leaves.  But, my new order turned out to be shredded roots.  I would recommend the leaves until I test out the roots.  I'll let you know..John

John John John. I have never met you but if ever did get the chance, please expect this idiot to jump you with a hug like we have been best mates for life.

You are a GD send. Wow wow wow is all I can say.

Somehow bumped in to your thread a few months ago and decided to give your carbonated drink idea a try.

I have been suffering from acid reflux since I was 25 so for 15 years now. It has been more or less a daily issue during this time. Terrible sore throats, also sinus pain practically a daily issue. (all connected apparently) just an all round hellish experience.

Taken lansopezole off and on done the bicarbonate of soda tried everything nothing worked until I tried your method.

Sensational, I don't even think it was a week before I noticed a noticeable difference in the way I was feeling. Now months later I have not had, thank the good lord, even one episode of acid in my throat sinus pain or any symptom of acid reflux.

Can I just ask how long I should keep doing the carbonated drinking. Can I keep strengthening the sphicnter muscle or do I give it a break now and if so did how long?

I have been using plain sparkling water.

    Thanks again.

Hi Sam  I am really excited to try this. I have only been suffering acid reflux for a month and have been taking lanzaprozole for two weeks. I have had some horrible symptoms both with the acid reflux and the lanzaprozole.

Is there any reason why you have to use flavoured water to do this or can i just use plain mineral water?

      Thanks

Hi Sam:  You made my day!!  Thank you for trying the carbonated water treatment.  And I'm so glad that you have had good results.  The insidious, constant burning this disease causes can ruin lives and it can even result in death if the acid goes upward and is inhaled by a sleeping person.  It is much more than just annoying.  I used those PPi drugs for too long and ended up with Diabetes.  And it is a known fact that Diabetes shortens a persons life by 10 years and often the last 10 years are not good.  But, the good news is that I have been trying different herbs and supplements and testing my glucose level each morning to find what supplement might natually help the body process glucose.  My latest finding is that a multi B vitamin once or twice a day dramatically lowered my glucose levels.  After I get more results I will post my results in a new thread on this forum.

For your last question, I would recommend that when you are confident that you have no more symptoms that you still do this treatment once a week to keep the sphincter strong.  I think there is a reason why certain people are getting GERD.  It could be as simple as a pinched nerve in the vertebra.  Or a medication side effect.

Sorry I did not see your last post.  The treatment involves drinking 8 to 10 oz of the carbonated water and then just sit and wait for the stomach to build up pressure.  Hold down the urge to burp.  Start with 5 minute sessions 4 or 5 times a day, every 3 days increase the time by 5 minutes if you can.  Until you are up to 20 minutes per session.  Some people, like me have an imperfect seal at the esophageal sphincter.  I have found that adding 4 or 5 teaspoons of oilive oil each day helps to coat the digestive tract and improves the LES seal.  It also helps lower cholesterol numbers.  Read my recent posts below for my new discovery on diabetes treatment.

I have been using plain carbonated water. Works for me. As long as it's fizzy, I guess. Good luck
