How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Hi:  It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before.  Professionals offer only medications and surgery.  I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years.  After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution.  Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water.  After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer.  Then burp the air out.  Make sure to always do this right before bed.  This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure.  It is the only way to strengthen this muscle.  After nearly 2 years of nexium,  I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux.  I hope you do.  Regards, John

Hello John, I was wondering if you can help me out with this problem that I Have

So basically I have this problem, where I burp really weird when I put force, or when I randomly burp, by drinking water, you know how the deal goes, lately I've been using medication, idk exactly how its called but it has something to do with acid reflux, I've been really terrified over what I've read on multiple sites, that you can get cancer for the esophagus if you burp a lot, they say it affects the cells, when you try to burp or something, and I was just really confused, because I saw some remedies, but do you think you can help me find a solution with my problem, I recently went to a clinic, and the doctor said burping was obviously normal, but I told him, I burp weird, and he said that's alright, and to me, it's not alright, like he doesn't know how I feel, idk if I'm being Anxious, or I have something wrong wleith my throat, I need to find a solution, but I can't seem to find any, if you have any suggestions or things that would help it go away, please, if you ever have the time, let me know thank you

      Hi Krusher:

Sorry to hear your not feeling well.  Let's first address the burping issue.  While most people do burp, some people do make a lot of gas and burp all the time.  It is not only annoying but can lead to more serious issues, or is a sign of issues starting.  We all need intestinal bacteria to help digest out food.  There is good and bad bacteria.  If the bad is dominent then you get a lot of gas.  What I would do is kill out your gut bacteria and then start over.  The best way to do this is to buy a good supply, maybe 2 quarts of Organic Plain Probiotic yogurt.  Then you will need a box of pepto bismol tablets or liquid if you can find the tablets.  No sustitutions.

In the morning take 2 tablets, then don't eat for 30 minutes, but drink 1 tall glass of warm water.  Then eat 1 cup of yogurt.  Repea this every 2 hours.  A total of 3 doses of pepto.  You can eat good food at the middle of each 2 hour interval.  After this, continue to eat 1/2 cup of yogurt every 4 hours and keep that up for 5 days.  After that you can just eat the yogurt 1st thing in the morning.  You will likely need to do this indefinitely as some people are born with poor bacteria strains that can cause digestive issues.

Give this a try and keep me posted.  John

Hi John ok I got the mineral seltzer water and I want to know is my goal to not burp at all and to keep holding it down indefinitely or is the training to hold it down at interval times but let the air out?

The treatment involves drinking 8 to 10 oz of the carbonated water and then just sit and wait for the stomach to build up pressure.  Hold down the urge to burp.  Start with 5 minute sessions 4 or 5 times a day, every 3 days increase the time by 5 minutes if you can.  Until you are up to 20 minutes per session.  Some people, like me have an imperfect seal at the esophageal sphincter.  I have found that adding 4 or 5 teaspoons of oilive oil each day helps to coat the digestive tract and improves the LES seal.  It also helps lower cholesterol numbers.

    Hey John,

What I tried is as follows. Having 8-10 ounces of carbonated water(unflavoured) and waiting for 30 minutes – controlling my burps. I could somewhat control it for 30 minutes(but later I burped). On the whole, It didn’t help much. Later I re-read your post and found that you were asking to do it 4 to 5 times a day – starting with 5 minutes and gradually increasing. I will try it exactly that way.

My question is it okay to burp outside the time window(the one which we start with 5 minutes and gradually increase)?

    Regards,

    Ashiq

Yes.  These are only exercise sessions.  Outside the short sessions do whatever gives you relief.

Hello John, I just really wanted to point out, that the thing you  replied to me 6 days ago, was not working at all, maybe just releasing the burps, and calming for a few min, but then I would start to forcefully burp really weird, and by weird, I mean not normal at all, it's really freaking me out, because I don't want to die from esopagus cancer, or whatever they call it, I already went to a clinic like I said before, the doctor said there is nothing wrong with me, he touched my throat, and he said there wasn't anything, although he did mention that junk food, soda, etc, is not good for you, it increases it, ever since I went to the clinic, I haven't ate chips for a month, and no soda, I don't know what, I can officially do, I don't have the money to go and try to get a blood test, I don't think it's super serious, but it's just not normal, thank you for replying as soon as possible last time you did, if you have any other suggestions, or solutions, let me know, and I will respond asap, and I tried carbonated water flavored, but i'm not rich, so I can't buy multiple a week, so I'll see you when you read and think about this situation, thank you John

I'm not sure if you read my reply above and the treatment.  I did not mention carbonated water in my reply.

Hi Johnathan, i started using the sparkling water once or twice a day, my question when i can stop taking the nexium ?

bInitially I was still using PPi drugs when I first tried the treatment.  But, it was instrumental in helping me to get off of them.  Most of us get on PPi drugs because of reflux acid pain,  but there was a study that showed that the stomach responds to these drugs by producing more acid pumps. This can cause the PPi drug to become ineffective with higher doses and more side effects. Then when a person tries to stop taking the drugs, all these new and old pumps produce unusually large amounts of acid.  But, the good news is that after a person stops taking these drugs, the stomach will shut down the excess pumps,  It just takes some time.

The best way to get off PPi drugs is to slowly reduce the dose over 2  months.  If you take capsules you can open them up and just swallow the tiny pills, reducing the dose week by week until you are down to 1/8 of a capsule.  If you take a tablet, don't break it because they are time release.  Just start taking them every other day and each week add a day between doses.  Or you could switch to a capsule PPi and do the first option.  Then if you get any burning after that you can use olive oil and regular antacids.  I recommend extra virgin olive oil, 4 teaspoons a day, one right before bed.  You can't really take too much as it is very healthy and can balance out high cholesterol numbers.

Also, take a multi B vitamin each day and a multi mineral.  And extra magnesium.

Alright well that is my bad then, I'll give it a try again and keep you updated, also here's another thing, I wake up really late, can that be the issue since stomach acid a builds up the more you sleep? But I have tried the yogurts recently, and aloe juice I'm trying today, so hopefully anything goes in my favor, if you have any other suggestions, please let me know of what I should do, anything helps, thanks John

Hi again. Just an update on my progress. I'm now down to 5 ppi caps a week, from 14! Remember I have been on ppis for 20+ years. I had to start over from trying to go too fast so it's been months, I don't recall hiw long. Anyway I'm using digestive enzymes, mastic gum and a liquid antacid to help with any heartburn issues. So far so good. I'll stay at five for another week or so and then reduce by one more. Oh and I finally got the marshmallow root but haven't been using it long enough to know it's benefits. So, all is moving along and going well. My good wishes to all who are trying to wean themselves from ppi's.

And I can't thank you enough for all your help and suggestions! Also, Claire was helpful with some helpful hints as well.

Keep a bottle of olive oil by the bed.  Before bed take a sip, about 1 teaspoon.  Then every time you wake up tap another sip.  It protects the stomach while you sleep.  Make sure your bed isa inclined 8 inches at the head.

That is great news bebe. Thanks for the update.  Nice and slow is the best way to prevent acid revenge.  A few basic reminders:  incline the bed 8 inches.  Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil 5 times a day before any water or meals and 1 before bedtime.  Lots of probiotic yogurt.  Take any pill only with food and plenty of filtered water.  Start the carbonated water teatment if you have not done so.  Try to reduce stress.  Add B vitamin complex and multi minerals.

      thanks again, John
