How I dealt with PR-almost totally healed after 5 weeks

Reading posts about how people helped themselves heal from this was so helpful, as my doctor provided no help (just recommended oatmeal baths and antihistamines). And I read a TON about it. So I wanted to share my tips!

Some fun facts that I learned from dealing with this:

- Everyone's PR is different and some things work for some people and not for others

- They say it's typical to get it when you are younger (kids-young adults). I am 45.

- It's not clear what exactly helped my PR or if anything I did actually helped it, or if it got better on its own. But if I ever get this again, I'm doing all of the same things.

What I did topically:

- Water made the rash get brighter and itchier so I tried to shower as little as possible.

-When I did shower, I bathed with cooled peppermint and chamomile tea. I would steep several bags of each, wait until it cooled, then would pour it over my body. I didn't use soap.

- I went through 2 one ounce bottles of 100%Tea Tree Oil. At first I cut it with coconut oil, but later found putting it directly on the rash helped with the itch. Tea Tree is great for all sorts of skin stuff, and I used it liberally all day every day.

- For itch, I would dilute apple cider vinegar and pour it anywhere it itched. Usually took the itch right away. It stung (I didn't dilute it much), but I'd rather have stinging than unbearable itching.

- Coconut Oil. I used this all day every day as well.

- Aloe Vera Gel. This helped with itch and heat. My rash sometimes felt hot, so this really helped with that. Get the good stuff- mine is 99% aloe vera.

-Vitamin E oil. I mixed this with coconut oil.

- I went tanning. 3 x total. Can't tell if it helped and it also increased the itch.

What I did health-wise:

- I started taking daily vitamins (a multi, Vitamin B, Calcium, a probiotic, fish oil, Vitamin C, adrenal supplements, garlic pills)

- I added more coconut oil to my diet. I would just eat tablespoons of it.

- I calmed down. I got the rash after one of the most stressful months of my life. There is some research pointing to this being an autoimmune disorder, which can be triggered by stress.

- I tried to avoid wine, as red wine has histamines in it.

- I drank tons of peppermint and chamomile tea.

-If I didn't have to wear clothes, I didn't.

Silver lining: The skin where the rash was looks younger and healthier. Maybe all of the tea tree oil and coconut oil? I don't know, but I love it.

Hang in there, PR pals!

Hey Finny i managed to cure PR in just 3 weeks from the herald patch and 2 weeks from that disturbing rash. 1st week of the rash was awful , i was so depressed couldnt sleep from the itch and didnt know what i exactly have until i appointed a check to a specialist dermatologist, he said i have PR and told me its not a virus like internet says, its a typical allergy witch starts from clothes and it triggers something into ur body. He told me water and soaps make the rash even worse, so i followed this plan :3 days without shower 1 day showering only with water.

Everyday i took calcium and vitamin pills , used betamethasone cream , and a liquid containing zinc, talcium and tea tree + antihistaminic benadryl, i have noticed changes since the day 1 , now a week has passed and all the rash and bumps are gone!

    Hi

Just read your post, and like you I found that the skin where the rash was is a lot younger and softer now and as the rash was on 90 % of my body I’ve got a new me :-)

I found I couldn’t put anything on the rash as it burnt nor could I go to the gym as that just made it worse.  The itching drove me mad

I stopped drinking and eating meat.  Took loads of vitamin D

    Which seemed to help

When the doctor said to me was a young persons disease I just laughed. I’m 47   All I can say is that I must look young for my age

And as you said. Just hang in there it will go
