How I patiently cured my bacterial vaginosis

I promised myself that if I beat this nasty condition I would come back to the forum and tell my story. I got BV after a period of extremely high stress and having a new sexual partner. My gyno recently confirmed that medical professionals are discovering and testing the correlation between stress and BV because the latter can negatively affect our immune response. First step is to lower your stress levels! I know it can be hard to do, especially if you worry about your health and catastrophize about having this condition forever.

I also suffer from multiple anxiety disorders, including health anxiety, and upon seeing a bunch of discharge in my underwear I automatically thought that I had an STD or some sort of incurable uterine disease. I was on a long travel journey abroad and didn't have much access to healthcare so I put up with it for five months. When I got back to the states I immediately went to the gyno who confirmed that it was BV. I am scared of antibiotics because of how harmful they can be to our digestive microbiomes so I opted for the Metro vaginal gel which delivers less antibiotic to your gut than a traditional pill. I was prescribed one full applicator 2x/day but didn't read the directions properly and decided to only use it 1x/day at night which was not a good idea. Use your full prescription so as not to create antibiotic resistant bacteria! This helped my BV for a few days and I got my period shortly afterwards which can elevate your PH levels. Bv was back. I then ordered boric acid capsuled and used them intravaginally once per night for 7 nights. The discharge was very watery but I had no vaginal smell whatsoever which was a huge relief. A few days later I found BV-looking discharge in my underwear again and felt totally distressed. The smell, however, was cured by the Boric Acid.

How the real healing began: I started taking a combination of women's high-quality probiotics with specific strains for vaginal health, a multivitamin, a folic acid pill, a Co-Q 10 pill, and garlinase garlic tablets. I squeezed half of a lemon into a cup of hot water with 1 tsp of turmeric and drank this concoction every morning. I used organic cotton tampons soaked in sea salt water for 2 hours every day for 5 days in a row. I meditated 2x/day per day and exercised at least 4x/week. Finally I inserted one probiotic capsule into my vagina overnight, put up with two days of weird discharge from that experience, and then went back to the doctor. NO BV!!!! YAY!!! This healing process took about one month to see results. Be patient, reduce stress levels, and take care of yourself. Remember that our bodies are designed to heal themselves but can also use a little boost now and then.
