How I’ve kept my BV at bay/ Triggers

To put it simply, I know what my triggers of BV are. My pH gets thrown off by unprotected sex with certain males and if I'm fingered from unwashed hands. By knowing this, I haven't had BV in almost 6 months and I've had sex/oral since my last bout and haven't had any problems. Why? Because I became adamant about condom usage and washing hands before any sex. What cured me was the metronidazole gel and I used probiotics containing lactobacillus acidophilus with a high count of 50+ billion bacteria during BV treatment to prevent against yeast and promote good bacterial growth. I've had BV on and off for almost 4.5 years. I've done an extensive amount of research and even bombarded my doctors with tons of questions just so I can understand this chronic and seemingly debilitating issue. What I've come to conclude is that BV is curable and can be prevented IF you know what your triggers are. In some BV cases, the triggers we acquire that cause BV could be temporary or life long, but it's really not the end of the world. Those are just triggers we can avoid through modification of our habits or our bodies naturally adapt to. For other women and people with vaginas, triggers are unique to each individual and may need some real digging and focus to pinpoint on what it is. Whatever you may think your trigger is, consult with a doctor regarding any questions and they should give you further advice on what to do. ALSO, for those of you who use boric acid or any homeopathic/antibiotic remedy without being officially diagnosed for BV or with the consent of your doctor, you further run the risk of having antibiotic resistant bacteria which is way worse than BV. So, it's extremely important on knowing what your triggers are to better your health.

The message is one that is inspiring... However in my own experience doctors and one gynaecologist were unhelpful to the point that I was treated in humanely and thrown out like a stray cat into the sidewalk. They did not want to know.

I agree with this 100% !!!!! I was BV free for 2 years after using the prescribed metro gel. I had one to many drinks and decided to have a rondevue with my BF and a girl friend ( i know TMI ) had fun but paid the price with getting BV again. I knew my triggers and for 2 years I carefully watched them close. I have an appt on 10th of this month to get the gel again, I pray it works again. i suffers BV 5 years prior, im so mad at myself because i knew better. It dont take much to throw your PH off ladies, so like she said know your triggers and protect the va jay jay at all times!!!
