How likely is it that I got herpes 1 and 2 from a girl I started dating?

Hey how's it going guys/gals? I recently started seeing a girl who told me she was clean so we started doing stuff. I kissed her but not much saliva was exchanged. 2nd time we got sexual I fingered her and she would lick her fingers after and we kissed but again not that much saliva was exchanged .. I washed my mouth right after and drank some apple cider vinegar. 3rd time we were sexual I fingered her and had unprotected sex but I only had it in maybe for 5-10 seconds until I pulled out and said we should wait.. Again I'm very paranoid so I got up and wiped my penis/testicals and all around with alcohol and drank some apple cider vinigar. I also peed right after I had sex with her. kissed that night and dropped her off. Me being as paranoid as I am I told her to get tested as I had been and everything came back negative. By looking at her she didn't any sores of any kind, Test results came back positive both for herpes 1 and 2. She also told me she hasn't had any sores. She got tested 2 months ago and everything was negative so alledgidly she got it recently.

How likely is it that I got it? Any chance that i didn't?

I know I did some weird stuff after sex as far as the alcohol and apple cider vinigar goes but I've always been paranoid so I just did it.

Thanks for any help!

It's good to be careful and clean, but this seems rather excessive! Plus I don't know how helpful your measures are generally speaking (potentially more irritating), and the one thing you should have been more careful about and you weren't, albeit only briefly. Anyway these are other issues, but just saying.

As for the girl and herpes, what type of herpes test did she get done and what exactly were her results? Herpes testing without lesions to swab is not so straightforward as you might expectlike it is for other STDs. Was it the IgG test, IgM test, something else? If IgG, what were her index values? If IgM, I would ignore it, as it is notoriously unreliable.

So, first is whether she even has it or not, because not all herpes tests are created equal. Even if she does have it, she was not aware of any outbreak and your contact was brief. While no symptoms does not guarantee no transmission, the fact your exposure was so brief reduces the odds, as usually a degree of friction is required and exposure to  enough virus. Also, the risk of a woman passing it to a man is lower.

Bottom line: You are more than likely okay, she may not even have herpes despite her results, and trade vinegar/alcohol for proper condom usage each time. Much better!

Thanks so much for the reply. Her test was igg and for hsv1 it was 3.30 and for hsv2 was 4.22.

I got a sore throat the day after I kissed her but it's going away. That's why I'm so worried. Went to clinic yesterday and told him everything. Doc wants to give me a std shot to cover the usual ghonneria and clamhydia and put me on antibiotics. Said my throat was a bit red and there was an infection. But he also said I should be good and not to worry as the chances of catching it is pretty low.

I just feel so dumb but I believe in God and I'm hoping for the best.

Hmmm, well, that is the correct test to have done without symptoms to swab and her scores suggest she is positive. There is an issue with the HSV2 test being falsely positive when there is pre-existing HSV1, but the higher the number, the less likely that is the case (so more likely a true positive). Her HSV2 score is admittedly above the usual potential margin for error range in such cases. In any case, it is harder for women to transmit to men, she did not have a known outbreak at the time, and your contact was very brief with next to no friction. New infections do tend to shed more, but it would be interesting to see her original test details and values.

I just hope to God I didn't catch anything. Starting school this August and all of this could not come at a worst time. But again I'm still praying for the best.
