How long after biopsy can I use Dermovate? Dermovate regime?

How long after a biopsy can I begin to use Dermovate again?  It's over a month since I used any and the itchiness has returned.

Initially, I used it twice a day for a month, then once day for a month, then stopped a fortnight before the biopsy, which was two weeks ago.  The GP has said to now use it once a week or more until the itching stops, then leave  it until it begins itching again and so on.  I would have preferred a more rigid regime and wonder what others think about this.  What is the best way of keeping things under control?  Once a week regardless?

Hi there, after my biopsy I was told to wait until healed before resuming dermovate because otherwise it creates a silver scar.  If the itching has returned, you may need to return to a once a day usage for a while before dropping.  But there is no one size fits all.  My LS is quite aggressive and I have to use a 5 days on, 2 days off regimen, possibly for ever.  Others can use a once a week or even be in remission.  I was told that remission is less likely post menopause, so I'm in it for the long haul.  I think it's a matter of finding a doctor who you trust and with whom you can collaborate and then following their advice.  Every best wish.

Thanks Jo.  I'm post-menopausal as well, so I'm in it for the long haul, too.  After I've healed, I think I'll try once a day to start with - which is how I was using it before the biopsy - then gradually drop it off and see how I go.  I got the impression from the doctor that I could use it depending very much on how I felt.

How long does the biopsy wound take to heal do you think?  It's been nearly three weeks now.   The stitches haven't dissolved yet and the doctor told me that it would take about a month for that to happen.  So, I should be healed after a month, shouldn't I?

Yes, I also think that a month should be right.   Best, J.

      I'm using 2-3 times a week.

Baking soda in bath water seems to keep inflammation down.

I haven't tried the Borax but my doctor said I could try it.

All medical sites say the best treatment is the steroid treatment.

I'm sorry I did not comment on your biopsy site healing. I would think the area would need ointment of some kind like neosporin or Aquaphor ( which I use all the time.)
