    Hello Vick,

Since I got HSV-2 I have refrained from shaving as it does irritate things and can bring about another outbreak, esp if you accidently cut the area, also it can spread the infection, so I just trim now with beard trimmers (lol), much more comfortable and less likely to spread things about, Ive had it 5 years now and its worked pretty well for me for this long.

Also another thing to consider if you get many outbreaks is eating a large fresh chunk of pineapple daily, or having non-concentrate pineapple juice daily, its worked in stopping my constant outbreaks and I get to eat/drink whatever else I want, including trigger foods and drinks like nuts, chocolate coffee and sweets.

If by chance you do get an outbreak, get a good quality 100% (otherwise it wont work) tea tree oil and apply it to the area (even if its just an outbreak starting thats a red irritated area) a couple of times a day, it should sting a little but its stops the itching and can stop the outbreak happening. Just dip either cotton wool or an ear bud in the oil and apply, never re-dip. Also after a shower or bath dry the area with a hair dryer on low cold setting to get rid of moisture, as that can bring about/irritate an outbreak.

      Hi Mandy

You sound like you have it pretty much under control. I've had it for 4 years now and feel like I'm starting to get some control of it all. Are you in a relationship with someone? If so did you meet them before or after you found out you had it?

I'm struggling to figure out how to go about starting anything with someone.

      Hello Paul,

Yes it pretty much is, jeeez it was such a nightmare to begin with, constant irritation/itching burning and outbreaks, along with the leg/thigh/bum pains, gosh as if having it wasn't enough to deal with, but now its very rare I get an outbreak.

I'm in a relationship, nearly 12 years, I caught this while with him, not sure how, I was faithful he was too apprantly, can't be 100% sure, he has no signs or symptoms of this, even after many years of unprotected sex with me knowing I have this, it doesn't phase him at all, at the GUM the doc said its more likely he is an asymptomatic carrier of this virus and gave it me, he was sitting there too so he knows he could haveit/given it me, we think because we suffer from oral coldsores once every couple of years that we might have hsv-2 orally and it got gave to me via oral sex, who knows lol I just deal with it now, I got a better sense of humour from it and I don't judge people anymore, I'm actually happier now than ever before, we have two kids, one prior to herpes and one after the herpes having this didn't affect my second sons birth at all, and I just laugh at myself now for having it, if there wasn't bad luck I would have no luck...

As for starting a new relationship I wouldn't know but I have read many a nice story on here of new relationships being started with people with this virus, people get accepted with this all the time, yes there is rejection too but would you really want to be with such a narrow minded person, it probably hurts but in the long run when you do meet that someone who accepts you for all you are you know they really do care smile

      Hello Chasity,

The pineapple works for me, I do use organic which is a bit pricey but hey its so much healthier for you and you know its full of goodness. I would defo try it you might be surprised, I know I was.

The tingling in you legs/thigh/bum or the tingling in the genitals where the ob happens?

If its the latter try tea tree oil on the area (!00%, and good quality) it works for me, I think after time the leg.thigh/bum pains do die down, I dont get them anymore and to begin with they were painful most of the time and I could barely walk with the pain, so I think time is the healer there.

Im not sure about the dating part but plenty of people on here have great advice to offer, and if your wondering about sex after herpes, dont worry it does get back to normal.

every time I shave down there I get an outbreak so I don't shave anymore. What has worked for me is 1000mg Lysine and 300 my of vitC daily. I agree about the tea tree oil!! I also drink lemon balm tea. It will get better sweety.

As for dating I am trying herpes dating sites which hasn't been too successful as I live in a remote area.

What type of razor are you using, cause I break put every month on my meds and I don't break put shaving. I use the Venus that has the shaving cream bars on it and use shaving cream as well.

I'm most curious as to why I break put on my 3rd day of my period inside. Is it from the tampon or just my hormones? It scares me that this will be a problem w sex.

The herpes sites aren't that great, as most people don't want to put their pics out there.

Heather, I thought you were dating someone?

To be honest, I've never felt the same down there since getting it last July. I can say, that it has improved some, but still has never been the same. I think it took quite a long time to not feel some discomfort.
