    Hi Adele,

I am so sorry to hear that. It seems like a lot for one person doesnt it? Do you have family or friends to help you with your daily routines? keeping company could keep you positive and out of the blues. I am only 5 days post op and I can relate to your feeling of sadness and helplessness and not knowing what's normal or not.

Keep yourself occupied, I got Netflix and books to keep my busy.

From what I read from these posts, it will get better!

I have some sort of idea how you are feeling. Broke my right heel (smashed) would be more accurate and broke left wrist. The only way i was able to get from A to B was a gutter zimer frame that allowed my arm to rest on frame ,to this day 14 weeks later a crutch is not much good for me. The helpless feeling can be overwhelming at times but thankfully,it only gets better. I have recently put myself on light work duties something i could only dream about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Take advantage of the rest and catch up tv there will be plenty time when fit enough to be back to the grind!

this is one of the worst injuries. it is very depressing. But over time it will get better. Have you been tested for osteoporosis ? I broke my wrist also and chose not to have surgery just a cast, it healed much faster than the ankle. I found someone on here going through the same thing I was and we encourged each other. good luck

i understand your depression but to answer your question about how long before you walk. everyone heals differently and all injuries are not the same... i started wb bearing at 8 weeks and full weight bearing at 10 weeks. i understand that having a broken wrist is another problem cause you cant use a walker or crutches.

Do you have a wheelchair? If not, get one. Go out in public as much as possible. Don't sit at home. I have had two surgeries and having that chair was a godsend! You can control one with one arm around the house and when your out you will have someone to push you. Don't stop living, get out there. Mental & social interaction is important to recovery.
