How long before scar tissue is irreversibly settled in?

I'm 4 weeks out and have a ways to go with straightening my leg (right now it's still about -3), while my flexion is OK (110) and somewhat improving.  I keep reading about not letting scar tissue setttle in, and I don't understand what that means.  Will there be a point when I won't be able to progress any more because the scar tissue has taken up permant residency?  If so, any idea when that will be?  I don' have any more PT sessions set up, but think I should. And I feel like I'm exercising enough because I'm exhausted at the end of the day, to the point of feel somewhat queasy after i've finished them.   But I will push frther if I'm under some sort of time clock..

If you push too hard then it causes swelling and pain and inflammation.  I do okay till I do something on my feet for too long.  The set back seems far greater in comparison to the little extra I did.  One PT told me that when they force the bend, that breaks the scar tissue.  However, it hurts tons to have that done, but it really does loosen things up as long as they don't overwork your knee in other ways.  Someone needs to write a book about the best PT so there aren't overzealous people working on TKR making things worse.  I'd like to do this without PT, but my surgeon seems to think I need someone pushing me.  I read parameters on when MUA is the course of action and you are way past that.  It's for people who are still under 90 degrees at some time period, which if I remember correctly is 10 weeks.  I'm just under 90 at 4 weeks, and I'm not worried.  The main thing I think besides bending it, is getting those quad muscles stronger through diligently doing the exercises

Hi, no one's ever mentioned scar tissue to me .. only place I've heard about it is on this forum my pt has only massaged it a couple of times really spending more time on massaging my quads and I asked her due to what I read on here and she said mine was fine.  So like all things I guess we all heal differently!  You have a great ROM of 110% for being only 4 wks post op.  I have dealt with many issues throughout this journey and last visit to the surgeon I was only 110% had dropped 5% with issues popping up .. I see him in 2 weeks again when I'll be 11mths post op...  I just take each day as it comes and learnt not to push harder than I should.

    Take care....
