How long did it take for your positive hsv blood test?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I was had unprotected sex (one time) on 9-1-19 with a man I was dating and unknown to me he is positive hsv1&2. I tested for ALL std on 10-10-19 and everything, including herpes via igg test, was negative. I never got sores but had some irritation since that night on and off. I did get a swap done on 11-3-19 and was negative (vulva fissures doc said it was and didn't look like herpes). Today marks 11 weeks. I'm supposed to get my pap smear tomorrow. I plan to get tested for ALL stds again once I hit 13 weeks.

Just want to know if anyone eventually tested positive for herpes and at what week did it occur, especially with no sores present.

IGG test is for long term infection. During inital infection, your body produces certain antibodies that IGG tests cant find. Get an IGM. That's for initial infection antibodies. It takes a while for your body to produce IGG antibodies sometimes, but IGM will let you be sure. Otherwise, I think you're fine

Ty for replying to my post. I did the IGM test already on 10-17-19. I didn't include that part (that's was the only thing) because I've seen so many comments saying IGM testing is unreliable? IGM was negative

Well if both IGM and IGG are negative I highly doubt you have anything. Its great that you didnt get anything considerijg you were at risk for catching both or one or the other. But get another test in about a month. Most people test positive much sooner than that but there are rare cases where people dont start producing antibodies till 4 months later. AGAIN, very rare but just to be sure wait 4 weeks. at 16 weeks, you should get your true results and be sure about it

hello, I am going through pretty much the exact same thing, except it has been about 1.5 months since exposure. My IGM test came back negative but I am still very worried about its reliability, and also wondering if anyone eventually tested positive.

I will keep you posted on my test results. It's been a hard journey but keeping faith that my tests will continue to be negative. 🙏. Stay positive and try not to stress so much.

what did your vuvla fissures look like? i have some to and im trying to figure it out

mines are always at the very bottom of the vulva (like bottom of the V lol). It's always a slight tear/rip. I have a tendency of getting them 🤷‍

IGM tests are never a good idea actually. Even the CDC recommends against it. I can link articles if you need. it's very untrustworthy and a waste of time and if your doctor tells you to do an IGM test find a new doctor.

like stated before igg tests are accurate but can miss 30% of hsv1 detection.

    it's more accurate for hsv2.

I think you would of noticed something by now if you were infected though so I'd say you're in the clear but still get tested at that 13 week mark and I hope the best for you.

omg im so happy for you!!! 8' currently going thru the same thing. Painful fissures at the bottom of my v on the right side only. IGG came back negative. got swabbed yesterday and begging, pleading and praying it comes back negative! I can barely sleep or eat! were your sores painful or no?

thank you!!😁 no, the fissures weren't painful but I did feel irritation around that area especially on my right side. throughout the 3 months I had yeast (treated last month) & bv infection (picking up meds for the bv tomorrow) so doctor thinks irritation came from that.

praying that your results will be negative too. 🙏. stay positive ❤
