How long do gastro side-effects last?

I've been on Sertraline now for 6 months (now 150mg) and I'm still getting excess gas and sometimes loose stools/irregular bowel movements. Is it normal for these side-effects to persist for so long? I'm worried it's going to be something permanent.

Hi I've been on sertraline since October last year and I've got the same issue.. I can say that it's not as bad as it was in the beginning and eating right with lots of veges and fruit and no refined carbs really helps. When I increase dosage it worsens too. Ask your Dr but I don't think it's permanent... Although some side effects people do battle with consistently. I'm actually changing from sert to lexamil today as sert just not working anymore and it'll b interesting to see whether I get worse or better! Keep us posted
