How long do other people's diverticulitis attacks last? Just read someone on soft diet x 2months?!

I'd love to know how long other people's flare-ups last on average. Have had D disease x 15 y. Had 3 attacks in past 6 wks. Urgh! I usually take antis & get up after 1 or 2 days, liquids only x 36hrs then soft foods x about a week, then gradually reintro fibre, seeds, pulses. Maybe I should stay on soft food more than a few days after 36h on liquids?? Opinions please! And btw its almost impossible to lose weight when this rotten condition dictates eating all the wrong stuff after an attack.. White flour pasta, mash..all those carbs! And stodge! Not helpful. Any ideas? Thanks. New to forum. Am 63 now & desperate to do anything to avoid surgery. Hi to all fellow-sufferers..this thing is a so 'n so & invades at the drop of a hat. Oh..and...
If anyone has ideas about how to address core strength safely please...do tell. Caz

sorry to bother anyone, i've been having issues for 5 years with my stomach below is a list of problems:
constipation
bloated
pain/tenderness lower left side
vomiting
excessive gas.
so far i have blood tests and ultrasound done with everything being clear, they put it down to IBS but i dont think it is, im constantly going to them because its depressiing not knowing what it is or how to handle it.
what i have noticed is anything high in fibre, wholegrains for example flares the condition up and i was told to eat things high in fibre because the constipation.
right now im trying a liquid diet because of a flare up, i feel its working as there is no food in my stomach to feed the problem but i do feel weak.
could anyone tell me if it sounds like diverticulitis because i've no more answers,
any advice would be appreciated

Sounds very similar to diverticulitis, then again I am new to this, I was diagnosed with it 2 1/2 weeks ago.It is horrible. I have not had vomiting though but I believe that is one of the symptoms. I also talked to the nurse at my doc's office today and she also struggles with this disease and she told me it took her 6 months to get better. I am too trying to figure out the triggers since I have always had so many vegetables. Good luck, I hope you get better.

Nothing I can say to help anyone else. My first bout with the big D. I wondered if anyone has a specific cream they use on their bottom. I am so sore from the acid like fluid, feels like I'm scalded. Wondered also if that is from the antibiotics I'm on or just part of this problem ??

i am new to diverticulitis . First let me say you have all been so helpful to me . I appreciate all of you & will pray for this group everyday . Through a CT scan I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis. I have a 15 cm pouch. I have been on flagyl & cipro for 20 days. I go thru bouts of diarrhea & constipation. I have been on a liquid for at least a week. I am now starting to eat some solid food. I have mostly good days but lots of not good days. i dont eat meat , not even chicken. I substitute with boca meats, plant based, etc. I have bad left sided pain almost all the time. Sometimes walking will hurt that area. I have an appt. with a gastro Dr. in early March If anyone can help me in any way I would really appreciate it. Not sure if this matters but I will be 63 at the end of the month. Thank you for any help you can offer.

hi , im 51 and have had my first diverticulitis attack . Ive suffered with abdominal pains for about 5 years. Doctor just said it was IBS , so didnt really challenge that. Last week i had severe pain that gradually got worse. Went to A&E who kept me in , gave me a scan and that resulted in me finding out i had diverticulitis . Waiting for a colonoscopy , spent 4 days on IV antibiotics . Im not really sure what to expect here on in. Im day 3 at home, tried going for a walk and the pain is starting again in my back now. Is that normal ? I guess im asking , what can i expect with Diverticulitis ?

I am going on 36 days now. I only feel twinges where I was diagnosed but luckily no fever or nausea. I did 14 days of antibiotics (Augmentin at first and then Cipro/Flagyl). I was told to follow a bland low fiber diet. I sometimes get gassy and started a food journal to try and pinpoint what foods cause gas.

Have had DD for 25+ years. Started with perforation and surgery. Flairs up once every couple of years. Course of flagyl & cipro. Works but reaks havoc with my body leaving me with flu like symptoms, bad diarrhea and in diapers 24/7 for about a week. No further surgery needed.
