How long does bleeding last after hysteroscopy?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi all, yet another question. Had the laparoscopy and hysteroscopy Monday last week together with a Mirena coil fitted. While I expected some bleeding it was only for a day or so but I am still getting some very slight bloody discharge - not much but enough to necessitate using a panty liner as protection. Any ideas how long this might last or should I be concerned and speak to GP? It is not really causing me any real problems just wondering if this was usual. Thanks again for any feedback.

    Hi Susan

Can I ask why you needed hysteroscopy? I've recently had one myself & had biopsies done plus polyp removed.

Culminating in endometrial hyperplasia being diagnosed. (Simple type with no atypia)

Had a coil fitted 2 weeks ago, had little bleed initially, now have full on bleed.

I was told by gynaecologist to expect bleeding. People I've spoken to have experienced bleeding & no bleeds for up to 6 months on & off.

      Hi emily06016

I had a hysteroscopy to remove a polyp and the laparoscopy to see if I had endometriosis elsewhere. The lap was negative and I have to wait for the polyp result to come through. They did not seem to think there was anything to worry about as no follow up appointment made. Just wondered if this very slight bleeding was normal. From what you say it probably is. I have to see my GP in a few weeks to check the coil so will speak to her then unless it gets really bad.

From what I undetstand there is a 6 month settling down time, where there can be bleeds or light bleeds or in my friends case no bleeds!

Hoping mine is effective in sense of realising enough progesterone to get rid of hyperplasia.... Here's hoping!

I just don't want it to advance to anything sinister. As its only simple there is only 1-2% chance of it doing so.

Hope all works out for you. I always think if you're in doubt seek medical advice

      Best wishesx
