how long does bleeding usually last

Hey all, been under investigation for Crohn's for a long time now, haven't bee able to get all my tests done because of the coronavirus which is fine. So far had an ultrasound that showed thickening of the terminal ileum and had consistently high FCP and CRP numbers (although not crazy high). Had a really bad "flare" I think where I was bleeding pretty badly for around six days and had lots of paint and felt faint etc etc. It cleared up by itself though and now I've just got regular back and stomach pain.

I was just wondering how long does a Crohn's bleeding spell last for and whether I should be worried.

Thanks 😃

    hey Sophia,

firstly I'm sorry to hear you are suffering like this.

personally the only bleeding I've ever really had is from a fistula up until recently I have started having more and more blood in my stools, so I am awaiting further tests for this. I have Crohns btw.

my sister who also has crohns does suffer from bleeding a lot though. instead of faeces coming out of her bowel she will have nothing but blood. so she basically poops blood sometimes, perhaps that's what you're experiencing?? usually when she has it itll last a day or 2 and then go away for a week or so. however recently it was getting a lot more frequent so she contacted her GI team and theyve started her on a mild steroid tablet.

so I would say if yours has been going on much longer than that and you're bleeding large amounts youd best get seen asap. whether it means a trip to ER but it cant be good for you if youre continually losing a lot of blood....

trust that helps, keep us posted!
