How long does it take for a open compound fracture tibia bone to fully healed?

It's been 13 months or a year since my accident. Broke my tibia and fibula, surgery for nail rod in my tibia. My tibia bone hasn't fully healed yet, one small gap still hasn't heal yet, my doctor said he confidence it will start to heal since he saw small signs of healing on X-Rays. I have no pain, just slight discomfort every now and than. If I walk too much or run I get sore but no pain. Haven't work yet but the other day I cut my yard with a lawn mower, my leg didn't bother me just tiredness since I haven't work. How long will it healed if others had similar problem and what else can I do to healed that small gap on my tibia?
