How long does it takes for the swelling to go down after metatarsal fracture?

I had a stress fracture 4 weeks ago and was put on a cast. My foot was completely swelled but but after 1 week the swelling has gone down but not completely.  I was just wondering how long does it take for the swelling to completely go down?

It can take months even once the fracture has healed. I broke my metatarsals five weeks ago and there's still some swelling and bruising, though nowhere near as much as when the injury first happened.

Depending on your age, health status and other physiological factors it may take 2 to 3 months for all the swelling to go down.

Follow your doctor‘s instructions to the letter and treat your foot like it was a piece of ham cut crystal.

And remember that any other trauma to your foot, no matter how insignificant will delay the healing time.

Swelling varies.  Try keeping your foot elevated as time permits.
