How long does Lansoprazole take to work?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Been taking it for a week and haven't really seen any improvement. Still getting left sided breast/chest discomfort every mid morning that moves to my sterum and make me want to belch. I eat a couple of Rennies and it goes for a few hours. I don't get any burning feeling just this wierd discomfort.

So fed up of it now, had it for 8 months and it's everyday for the last 6 weeks or so.

I just want the feeling to go!!

    Hi Jess

I am on a similar PPi and they did take quite a while for any noticeable improvement. I would give them at least a month before you decide if they are worth taking.

Okay I just read your replay from 6 days ago. Stress can definitely cause the digestive system to malfunction. Some things we can't change and do cause stress. I would recommend a high quality enzyme. Stress often causes the stomach to make only acid, but enzymes are needed to digest properly. I take one irwin brand enzyme with every large meal. It works wonders.

You can also take ranitidine/zantac at the same time as the ppis. If there is no improvement ask to change ppis, I would recommend esomeprazole/nexium.
