How long does surgical repair of vaginal prolapse last?

Hello. I am so glad to have found this group!
I am 40 years old and have been diagnosed with a rectocele and urinary stress incontence, which indicates a cystocele and/or urethrocele. My symptoms are bulging, discomfort, and urine and bowel leakage. Otherwise, I am in excellent health.
After a year of PT, my GP and therapist are now encouraging surgery. I agree with this. Given my age and the fact that I am done having children, I'm a good candidate for surgery as far as post-op recovery is concerned. On the other hand, it also means that I might be facing a second surgery later in the life.
For those of you who had surgery to correct problems like mine, how long did the repair(s) last? And which type of procedure(s) did you have?
My other concern is about the surgical materials used. The idea of mesh makes me very uncomfortable and I see that Mayo is now suggesting natural tissue for prolapse repair, though I'm not sure which procedures specifically. I a meeting with the urogynecologist again today to discuss the specifics of surgery. (FYI - the tissue damage was definitely a result of childbirth. Although I've only had one pregnancy and delivery, doctors have compared the state of my pelvic floor to that of a woman who has had 4+ vaginal deliveries: 10 lb. baby, 11-hour transition, baby's head was visible for at least 4 hours before delivery.)
Any wisdom to share?
