How long does your first outbreak of herpes last?

Hello all. I'm glad I found this post.

I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with gh at first the doctor thought it was a cyst so went to the gyni who has could be thrush, took some cream home but 2 days later I got these red bumps and could hardly walk took my self over to the gyni again who said 90% sure it's herpes. I was in a right state I felt physicaly sick I've been with my husband 7 years married 3 never cheated, she gave me the antiviral tablets,codine,ibrifrufon, paracetamol and some hel to numb it the gel was a good send. I wastold if i started taking the tablets within 48 hours it wouldnt of been this bad.I was in so much pain I couldn't take my son to school for a week even getting of the sofa took ages it was horrible. I would Google it everyday to see what stage I was at how long I had left. It seemed to never ever end,I'm not suicidal but I really wanted to die. Eventually it started to get better but then I came up in this bumpy rash on my bum which really hurt so I went to the gum clinic to be told I'm allergic to the numbing gel I was so scared to go to the toilet I would only wee in the shower, but it got better now it's just extremly itchy and I'm so scared when my next outbreak will be and will I know when it is going to happen again will it happen every time I have sex. So many questions so little answers. Just wish there was a cure for it. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy x

I had unprotected sex last week. The guys used a lube that I don't think my vagina was a fan of and I started feel itchy and irritated he next day. It turned a bit red and I just assumed I had a yeast infection so started treating it as that. I can't help but wake up each day and inspect my privates for sores though. My question is, how long after sex would you start noticing an outbreak, on average? It's been over 5 days and it's gotten a little better and I don't detect any sores.

How did you know for sure you had it. How long after u got it did u get symptoms I'm so scared I have something. I have what looks like fordyce spots I've had them for atleast 4 months they don't change. But I feel wet and then itchy. Can someone help?

I am going through something similar. I noticed one genital bump maybe a week ago, and then another a few days ago, and then another yesterday. They are not in groups and spread out. Two of them are blisters and one of them seems to have burst. My doctor said it looked herpedic and took a culture that she unfortunately said will take a while to come back. Today I started Valtrex for 10 days--taking 4 pills a day. My sex partner recently had a gum infection, so I am kind of ruling out that he transferred the virus orally, unless he didn't know he had the virus living in him prior to that. The only pain I'm experiencing is during urination, which is annoying but bareable. Does anyone know if symptoms will get worse if I just started medication (more blisters appearing)? I am hoping that the medicine will turn the symptoms around and make them just go away now for a while (or forever)! Piece of advice for all: When getting STD tested, ask to be tested for both types of HSV. Normal STD tests don't do testing on HSV. I was tested less than 2 months ago and came back clean for everything without thinking about herpes. 

I to..just found out i have GH a few weeks ago. .im devestated ..i was so sick i couldn't pee i had a catheter in for a week due to the swelling now i have postherpedic neuralgia. .does anyone else suffer from this? The salt baths i found were my only relief...i did read somewhere also..to wet a cloth and freeze it..i will definitely try that during the next outbreak...thanks for any insight

How long does it take to detect herpes???

I found out I have GH 3 years ago when I went for my pap, I decided I should get tested because I was in a new relationship and I wasn't sure where we were going.. and from my past experiences men have not been the most faithful type of people. I was also married 3 time with cheating A-holes...when my test results came back I was devastated I called my boyfriend and told him the results he was tested he and he tested negative,he thought I had cheated, but I know I hadn't doctor explained that this can hide in your system and never know you have it. We almost broke up because of it but he decided to stay with me. And yesterday for the 1st time I felt two little bumps I'm pretty sure I'm having an outbreak

I know I'm not answering your question but I just wanted to say that yes Gh is a very unfortunate thing to have I was told I have it today from a nurse at a walk in clinic and she gave me meds to start treating it with. So as of today I now have herpes to deal with. The burning and stinging is the worst. I don't know how I'll cope with it😞

Hello everyone... Unfortunately I really hate to be writing this right now... but I'm really hoping someone can help me or tell me what's going on because all signs lead to having herpes... I'm seeing someone that I've been seeing for almost 4 years and we have always had unprotected sex and we have a child together just recently he out of nowhere wanted to use a condom which I thought was odd we have a child together and we just never used condoms after about a year of being together then a couple weeks ago he insisted on using a condom I asked why since he was always the one that never wanted to use them to begin with he said he had something he wanted to try which is really odd to so I just agreed to it and we had sex then we have since unprotected and after that I noticed a Lil sore bumb near my vagina and it then turned into a blister and had water like stuff coming out of it it's now turned to a scab and is very sore then right beside of it I notice some more pimple looking bump then the next day they are blisters and this is more on my thigh kinda... I really don't trust him I think the wanting to wear a condom was fishy to begin with and I've been tested and never had herpes before he had Givin my gonhera I can't spell it before and blamed it all on me when I knew I hadn't been with anyone but him and I still haven't in almost 4 years now of course he's always accusing me of sleeping around and I'm always hearing he isn't being faithful and I've even seen proof but even then he lies his way out of it! I don't have any pain when I pee but the sores look exactly like the pictures of herpes and I'm scared to death! It says u usually show signs after getting infected from 2-20 days after and I'm just sure he has givin it to me what do u think ?

Hi, I just notice that I got herpes this week.. I was dating this guy for about 2/3 months and we went oversea together and it's our first time having intercourse. After the trip. I start to feel burning sensation when I pee. I thought I might get a infection. The next 2 days. I notice I got pimple look alike stuffs around my virgina area and I consult the doctor. Yup, I'm being passed by him of herpes. Idk what should I do now.. Even peeing make me feel like crying. My life is in a mess now. I don't know what to do now. I hope someone can give me advise what to deal with it.

I'm 100% positive I have herpes. I'm getting tested later tonight but I know it is. I started experiencing symptoms a week gone Friday and nows I have loads of blisters all over and it's quite sore. They don't seem to have burst but look more like ulcers now. It's very painful but I can just about bear it. I just don't want it to get worse. The thing is, I'm diabetic and worried that this is going to take forever to heal. I also have arthiritis and take drugs for this that suppress my immune system. I'm so updet about this. I'm used to getting diagnosed with illnesses (I have about 5 autoimmune conditions) but I'm a single 26 year old girl and feel like I'll never go out with a guy again. It was most likely an unfaithful ex that gave me this. I'm wondering if anyone can let me know what stage I'm at and maybe how long this is going to take to stop. I feel so upset. Like I don't have enough going on, I have to get this too.
