How long for movement to return following Fibula fracture

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had fracture of fibula and displaced my ankle at the same time.  I had surgery to put in a plate and screw.  I had 6 weeks non weight bearing in a cast before moving into a boot.

My surgeon has said I can remove the boot for bathing and also to exercise it.  I am still non weight bearing and he said all I can do is point my foot down and up and move the foot side to side.  My question is how much movement should I expect and how long does it take to see any results.  At the moment I have very limited movement and not sure if I am hoping for to much.

Hi! I'm still in the NWB stage of my trimal and orif...so don't have an answer for you, but I'm surprised that you aren't getting physical therapy for your injury? When I transition to the boot, I will start PT per my surgeon. I've heard from others that the PT makes a huge different in progress. Best of luck to you!

Not given any physical therapy as yet.  I guess that will happen when I can weight bear.  Only given exercises by surgeon.  Just looking forward to getting back to some sort of normality.

Sounds like your coming along pretty good. Keep doing those excercises. Each week you may see yourself doing more.
