How long should i be taking these for??

I have been on sertraline 100mg for well over a year now and my moods can still be just as erratic. Ive also noticed that i sweat so much more than i used too. I dont want to be on these forever but whenever i go to the doctors to discuss it i end up leaving with a higher dosage. Im not sure whether i should keep taking these or whether i should start taking myself of them gradually and try another type of tablet?... Helppppp

I decided to lower my dose instead of going higher. I went from 100mg to 75mg for 3 weeks and now 5mg for the last week.i feel like doctors think upping the dose is thw only answer. But sometimes lowering it can be just as affective.

I was on the 100mg about 3 months. The start up was 50mg for 2 weeks. I gave it a fair shot. Though it made my panic attacks less frequent and easier to manage. It also mafe me fearfull of everyday things like grocery shopping and errands. I havent been able to go to the gym in months because of fear yet i keep losing weight because my appetite is non existent. And i just feel off all the time the brain fog never went away. I want to be my old happy self and the zoloft is taking that away its taken my motivation away and my drive for life. I rather go back to the occasional panic attack and days with anxiety than feeling like a useless humam being. It's picking one hell or the other and anxiety and i have been on the same page for 6 years. I rather stick to the hell i know.

Dodo if you are feeling like this after 6 months on sertraline then its not the right medication for you. I want to either come off of the sertraline all together and just use diazapam as needes for when panic attacks are starting to happen. Or i am considering switching to celexa. When i told my dr how i havr been feeling after 14 weeka on the 100mg that i wasnt feeling like myself yet and that i still feel uneasy sometimes with anxiety and that i am not at all my old happy go lucky self she agreed this wasnt the right medication. If after 6 months you still dont feel like you and dont feel normal then why would this be the right medication.

Well I can cope but not as happy as I want to be . My thoughts are making me panic but still I can cope . I think the doc will try the 150 dose . Not sure , but I'm coping and trying to tell myself it's ok to be like that .😬

I understand how you feel cause i felt the same. Scared of coming off of it cause i know its hard but the way i see it is the longer i am on it the harder it will be to come off of it when its time. I did a lot of research on what i will be feeling while coming off of it and i know that everytime i lower the dose it takes 2 weeks to feel the effects of the new dose and i know that once im down to the last bit and stop taking it i will have some withdrawl that will last a few weeks. Also i know that coming off of it will create some anxiety cause im changing my brain receptors but i also know it wont last forever and need to push through it for a couple for weeks and everyday will get better. Its a lot like when u first start going on it.

If its working for you and you arent still suffering with side effects or major brain fog then it could be that you found your right medication and dose. We have to remember that this isn't a one pill fits all type of medication. Trial and error. Im going to stay on the 50mg for sure till june 9th. That day i meet with my dr. And she will ask me what i want to do next. So ill give an update as i go. I also read and talked to several people that have come off the sertraline and they swear by benadryl as something that helps ease the withdrawal symtoms. So its something i will try for sure if i start feeling sick. 3 friends told me the benadryl helps stop brain zaps and nausea. So im prepared to try it out. If the 50mg get rid of my brain fog and ups my mood then i might stick to it for a couple montha before lowering to 25mg. But if i feel like ota time to fully come off then i plan to start 25mg after june 9th and then take that for another 2 to 3 weeks then 12.5mg for 2 to 3 weeks until i start doing 12.5 every other day then evwry 3 days then every 4 days and so on until i stop.
