How long till SSRIs work for breathing issues?

Hi,

After almost a year of suffering with breathing issues, I gave in and started Zoloft. For the past year, my breathing has been restricted, taking a lot of effort, and always feeling air hunger. It feels like my ribs can't expand enough to get air.

I started 25mg zoloft about 20 days ago. I upped it to 50mg about 12 days ago. I had a couple of good days, that got me excited. But now I'm back to the usual. It feels like I'm not taking meds at all.

I know meds can take 3-6 weeks to start working. But shouldn't I see some improvements already? Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

      Hi,

My doctor told me to up it to 75mg, because the theraputic dose is apparently 100mg. So I've done 75mg for a week now. Still nothing. I was so excited that this would help, but so sad and scared that it may not 😦 I can't keep living like this.

yeah it does take a little time for them to work I'm afraid. I'm on day 9 of increasing my dose of citalopram and I actually feel worse 😔 they take time to get into your system and to start working and sometimes they can make you feel worse before you feel better xx
