How Long To Keep The Dressing On 🤔

Hiya Guys....

Simple question, 😁 how long should ya keep the dressing on ?

Had my THR 5th October, went to nurse last Friday for staples out, only to find there was no staples..👍

Nurse put another dressing on and didn't say much about taking this off...

So just asking how long some folk leave it on...🤔

They gave me a water resistant dressing. I kept it on for a week and then nothing.

    hi,

mine was on for nearly 2 weeks.

the district nurse came and changed it after 1 week. then i went for physio half way through 2nd week and it dropped off.

the physio had a look at the wound and said it was healing nicely and didn't need a dressing.

I had a waterproof dressing on for 2 weeks until the district nurse took the staples out, you must have been glued.

I kept mine on for two weeks until the staples were removed. Then nurse insisted on putting butterfly bandages on. But they had also done that for the first hip surgery and those suckers would NOT come off even though they were supposed to fall off over time. So, the next day I removed the bandages and left the incision uncovered. No problems!

Hi, as long as your wound is knitted together and healed with no raw bits or oozing you dont need a dressing .

Same thing happened to me Pete. Went to have staples out and there were none. I left my dressing off after 10 days when the wound was well closed and not leaking. I would think you're fine now as long as it's dry and healing nicely.

I had disolvable stitches, had the dressing removed two weeks after the op when the district nurse snipped off the sutures at the end of the wound. The wound was still oozing a bit so had a new dressing which I took off myself about a week later.

i find it very interesting but also annoying at the different methods

i was obviously very lucky to have disolvable stitches and what looked like bostick glue on the top

so no 'clips' had a big waterproof bandage on the to i was told to remove after a week all great x

Luckily I had a spinal with no sedation so my surgeon gave me the option of clips or not before he closed the wound. I hadn't a clue but chose disolvable as they sounded better!!

I kept mine on about 2 1/2 weeks doctor removed it and had nurse to remove staples this time. She told me I could shower normally with soap and water but not to put put any thing else on it. The doctor said as long as there was no oozing or any signs of infections he would take dressing off. I wish you well and take care.
