It's been 9 weeks since my surgery and I'm still in a boot! How long were you in a boot after your Achilles' tendon surgery? I also had haglunds deformity removal and bone spur removal.

After 4 weeks of not being on my feet I had to wear the boot for 2 weeks and then on to sneakers.

WOW! That was fast! I can't find any sneaker store that fit my constantly swollen right foot! Tried NB wides and Asics wide. They're all to wide in the heel but need the width in the forefoot bc of swelling 😏

My surgeon said that he wanted me to wean into shoes within 3 weeks so that's what we did.  I still my pain in heel but the swelling is no where near how it used to be.  Are you keeping your foot elevated?  I completed 6 weeks of physical therapy and got a prescription to get another 6.  I'm 2 weeks down so far.  It truly is a slow and long process but I defintely can tell the difference.

From the point of rupture i was in the boot for just under 7 weeks plus 1 week in a back slab at the begining. I had a partial rupture and went concervative, also I was PWB after 2 weeks in the boot. I think this was the key to my recovery, the PWB and FWB so early on. Now at 11 weeks I walk normally, without a limp and the mauscle is coming back.

Every time I try to transition to a shoe, the bottom of my heel (underneath my foot) hurts so badly the next day that I have to go back to the boot 😏

It's not easy transitioning to a shoe, it's a more gradual thing, I didn't take the  boot off and started walking/hobbling. For about 4 days before that I would seat at my desk (I work from home), barefooted, I would just rest my feet on the foot floor or I would get a mini football and rest my feet on that. This is just to get the nerves back into gear. But try and not do too much, take it easy.

Linda, my surgery was Aug 22nd as well. I'm out of the boot for the most part but I have to change shoes at least 3 times a day. Sneakers, backless sneakers, slippers, etc.

My surgery was Aug 22nd. I'm completely out of the boot. Been completely out of it for 2-3 weeks maybe but athletic shoes still hurt! I'm walking best in backless slide on shoes like Skechers or Birkenstocks.
