Hi Dougie, i've only just been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands but my understanding is that they operate on one hand which takes a couple of weeks to recover from then they do the other hand once first hand is recovered. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow to let him know that wrist splints aren't working so i assume i have to have nerve induction tests next, is that what happened with you?

    Hi again,

I saw my doctor last week and he has referred me for nerve induction tests in both hands. I have been experiencing complete numbness in my hands on waking up for about a year and a half but only recently did i begin to get extreme pain in my forearms, to the extent where i struggle to hold a kettle with only one cupful of water in it. I have had slipped discs in my neck and surgery for that so i thought it was perhaps another slipped disc that was causing these problems, we're still not sure whether it's something connected to that so the nerve induction tests should confirm if it is carpal tunnel. If it is then they will refer me for surgery so i should be able to find out more about what that entails then.

Will you let me know how your surgery goes and how you get on with the recovery please?

    Hi guys,

From reading your posts it seems that u both know the symptoms very well.

I have numbness in both wrists on a daily basis every morning. I also get it when I am doing certain tasks, like typing as I am now!

I also get cramps in my hands when I am doing movements like using a screwdriver for instance.

Do you think this could be CTS??

CTS is common in my family on my dad’s side.
