How long will this last

Hello, I am new here and wanted some advice on my anxiety. I am currently signed off for 2 weeks due to my anxiety as I cant seem to get a handle on it. It keeps coming in waves and the only time I don't feel it is when I am sleeping. I dread waking up as I know the feelings will start all over again. I currently take citalopram and propranolol, my symptoms are tight band in the head, teeth clenching, trouble staying asleep, excessive sweating, floaty feeling, upset stomach, feeling outside of myself and complete sense of doom. This is ruining my life, does anyone else have similar feelings and how do you cope?

your sensations are very common with anxiety and stress. Is there anything in your life that could be causing you excessive anxiety? I’ve had it for a very long time and the sensations come and go but I do know that the more you focus on them the more they will occur.
Another thing is everybody should have a complete physical check up at least once a year.
But with anxiety, focus on relaxing your mind as much as possible. To get some relief, you can listen to some meditations for anxiety on YouTube. I do that a couple times a day especially when I lay down to sleep. I also use white noise when I sleep because that helps to relax me and I leave it on all night.
you can also learn proper breathing with anxiety which is important. I know how frustrating all of this can be. But take one day at a time and try not to overthink this.
Sensations of anxiety are not harmful. speak to a counselor if there are things in your life that are stressful because then you can get some ideas on how to resolve this. Private message me anytime!

thank you, I have had anxiety for about 18 yrs now, it was only after about 10-12 years that I had come to the end of my rope and decided I was either going mad or dying so walked myself straight down to my GP and asked to see someone and stayed there until I was seen. I know these feelings will pass but they are just soooooo unsettling and I can barely function when I am in the mists of it......well actually I don't function. I am keeping a journal to see if there is anything that is triggering the episodes as I have hear that anxiety can peak during your monthly cycle

ive had it over 30 years, not continually but always a nervous feeling at least. symptoms began age 27 . thought i had a disease but didnt . well anxiety is one.
it may never go away totally so i have to manage it. i cant let it take away my joy in life.

That's how i felt there must be something 'wrong' with me as this cant just be anxiety. sometimes it flares up really bad and I really struggle to get myself out of the cycle as I'm just waiting for that next wave to come. It is just such an out of body experience, feeling unconnected to my body is the part that scares me the most.
thank you for replying it helps to know im not going crazy

Hi, when i went to the doctor they just said i was suffering with anxiety and prescribes propranolol and citalopram, They do help but when i have a flare up they seem to get worse each time as i can feel the sensations coming and i get myself even more in a state because i know whats coming. Then i start thinking this cant be just anxiety i AM going to die, somethimes that will last days and then im on high alert for the next wave. its very frustrating i wish there was a magic pill to fix it.

thank you for responding! this is really affecting my everyday life. this has literally been going on for 5 days now and idk what to do. i feel like im in a constant fog, i cant concentrate at all or remember anything. and when i have an anxiety attack i feel like im so out of my body and that the feeling is never going to go away or that theres something else mentally wrong with me.

Have you been to see your doctor at all? If so did they recommend anything? It is such an awful debilitating condition, some days its all I can do to just sit on the sofa with a fan on and wait for it to pass. usually this can take all day or days as Ive worked myself into such an anxiety state that one attack just rolls into another. x

well hang in there you have made the first steps in seeing your doctor, I also had therapy first years ago and it did help. Hopefully that can give you some anxiety reducing tactics. There are some great anxiety reducing meditations on youtube, also some helpful people to follow Mel Robbins and Therapy in a nutshell. I have found both of these quiet useful. Stay strong xx

Does it feel like your head is in a vice being squeezed? If so its probably a tension headache caused by your anxiety. I get them alot used to make me think i had a brain tumor
