How m uch can Hemorrhoids bleed

Hi Everyone

I'm really hoping some of you kind people, and fellow IBS sufferers, might be able to put my fears and anxieties to rest concerning bleeding from hemorrhoids.

I'm going through a bout of IBS-C at the moment (been disagnosed with IBS-A), and yesterday I felt like I needed to have a bowel movement. I went to the toilet and could not produce any stools, however a worrying amount of blood did come out. The same thing happened this morning, except this time there seemed to be a definite increase in the amount of blood. Now I know a little blood can go a long way, especially when mixed with toilet bowl water, and there's every chance some of the blood today could have been collected from yesterdays episode, but this was enough to really put the frighteners up me. Looking at it logically it was probably at most no more than half an eggcups worth of blood, maybe a bit more, but it has scared me a lot. I've had colonoscopies in the past and the discharge sheet has always had 'Hemorrhoids' written on it in big, bold letters, so I know I have them. I'm not experiencing any pain or discomfort, not feeling dizzy or faint, otherwise I feel normal.

I would be really grateful to hear of any bleeding hemorrhoid stories you peeps have, especially if the amount of blood was a worrying amount. Also, any help and advice on what to do to help reduce the bleeding would be very welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

    hi there

    I feel your worry

I had bad haemorrhoids and going to the toilet was not a fun time. I to had what seemed a large amount of blood even to the point of it dripping into the bowl

I had to change my diet and drink a lot more water

a had another colonoscopy done and they removed the bad ones

I still get some bleeding every so often

but try to to force the bowel motion
