How many days should I give an increase?

Hi all,

How long do you guys think I should give an increase before deciding it might not be for me?. I'm in my 7th week now and day 4 at 100mg, going up in 25mg increments. So far the increased dose is causing jitters and increased anxiety. Is this just me adjusting or is it too much for me.

Thanks, J

I’m not a doctor but I’m not sure why your already up to 100mg on just your 7th week? It could be possible for your mg too be to much too fast? Maybe you need to decrease instead of increase? Going by what my Dr told me is that it takes at least 6-8 weeks to start feeling the full effects which is why he kept me on 50mg for the 8 week period to see if that would work, instead of just increasing every other week. I’m glad we went that way because I personally know now that the 50mg is working very well for me. But that’s just me, you may be totally different so again I would speak to your Dr I’m sure he’ll know best as what to do. Good luck

Thanks Joe, I'll ask him when I see the doc this week, just to confirm.

It’s you adjusting. I’m at 112.5 mg and increased 5 days ago. It normally takes a week to settle. Right now I’m nauseated and anxiety is through the roof.

Am to increase my dose weekly until I reach 200 mg.

    How about you?

      Hi Monna,

Do you mind me asking if you are taking this for anxiety or depression as I haven't spoken to anyone who takes 200mg yet or is aiming to do so.

I’m taking it for anxiety. Trials say that one needs an average of 119 mg as far as I can see but my psychiatrist showed me trials that said 150+

I’m at 112.5 mg now and suffer side effects so will not increase the next week. I need a few “good” days without heightened anxiety and nausea.

This is my second time on sertraline but my first time was a huge sucesss so I decided to go back on it,

The first time I went on sertraline my doctor put me on 50mg for 1 week then increase to 100mg the second week and to see how I am with that dose and I have to say there was times at the start where I felt up and down which is to be expected but after about a month of taking the 100mg i felt great so I don’t think it’s too drastic of an increase maybe just the side effects which are to be expected from increasing

      Hi John,

Did you find 100mg got you back to your normal self or better than your normal self, when you say you felt great? I'm very intrigued about the results I might see, I would love to have a life with no anxiety, but at this stage I'd happily take my old life of being a generally cautious and overly sensible person , Thanks, J

It’s hard to say because anxiety isn’t always a huge factor in my life, I just get really bad spells of it when I experiment with drugs and the only way I can make it go away is with sertraline it’s like when I do drugs something switches in my brain and I can’t turn it off, but I think if you get the right dose there’s a good chance you will be anxiety free as that’s what it treats, it’s also hard to say because I went 3-4 months with extreme anxiety and depression 3 years ago so when the sertraline worked I don’t know if I felt better than normal or whether I just felt so grateful to feel normal again if that makes sense? Bottom line is I felt great and even when I came off sertraline the results stayed the same I would say I was cured of anxiety, but like an idiot I tried experimenting with drugs again and reset the whole process again 🙄 I’m confident once I’m better again I’ll feel better for good once I stay away from drugs, hope this gave you some insight
