Oh I beleve we have been diagnosed with atrophy, however how many are blaming atrophy for somthing thats actually another problem not stemming from it.I wonder about my case..is it the Atrophy or say a fungel problem, allergy, tight clothes etc..wonder about thoughts on this.I think thats why I dont know what to do or how to treat. So many variables..thoughts?Or experiances??

You know Lee you could be on to something there.  When I was told I had atrophy I didn't even know - I'd got no symptoms!  It was only when I asked if I had it when they were doing a cancer check (from endometrial cancer that they did the hysterectomy for) and they told me I'd got it.

I know Im so confused.Just because I have atrophy doesnt mean somthing else isnt the real caus for my vulva irritation. One gynocoligist said i did have some vulva atrophy, dermatologist said I didnt..i do have vaginal atrophy just not sure its the exact caus of my vulva issues.

My experience is chasing doctors for 4 years many uti's and pain. First doc thought intersistal cystitis.   Next doc didn't know third doc was a Gyn/urologist said atrophy. Started HRT.  Good for 4 months before another uti.  Now going to gyn at Stanford next Monday.  Trying everything

I guess all we can do is keep trying. So costly,I never thought I would have these issues.I hope you get some answers.Ive heard there are gynocoligist that specialise in this.I think I might have to ask mine if she knows of one.Probably cheaper then going back time after time for a 15 min appt.maybe if they gave us more time we could figure things out faster.I am so disallusioned with the medical industry and big pharmaceutical companies.im in the U S.We have high deductable then co pay..all they offer now through husbands work. All we get for meds is a discount all I see is dollar signs.

"Vaginal atrophy is the medical term that refers to the thinning of the wall of the vagina that occurs during menopause. Prior to menopause, the vaginal lining appears plump, bright red, and moist. As estrogen levels decline, the lining of the vagina becomes thinner, drier, light pink to bluish in color, and less elastic." Apparently when the doctor sees these signs it is apparent that atrophy is what is taking place. Typically the signs are accompanied by our complaints of painful sex, UTI's etc.

In my case, I had developed an infection at menopause. Maybe I was showing signs of strophy at that point. The doctor fixated on the atrophy & although she didn't deny I probably had an infection she would not prescribe the type of medication I knew worked for me in the past. It was ridiculous of her to do that really. So it is possible a woman could have a non-specific infection that causes great discomfort but can be cured with Flagyl. In the meantime I continue to have VA that is a concern to each gyno I have had since (they die or retire!).

I am getting confused as to who is who and can't remember what you have tried re solutions.
