How much does lab work always correspond to a pancreatitis diagnosis?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hey all, I just decided to start a new thread as this is a fairly specific topic.

Stomach pain and discomfort has kept me up all night so I got online to look at appointment results.

I got blood work back.

My lipase = 15

Amylase = 35

Both fairly normal.

Has anyone else had extreme pancreatitis symptoms with similiar "acceptable" levels?  I dont want to be thrown off and I am anticipating my doctor to give the old "well your lab work looked fine..." line.

    I have perfect bloods....

but all pancreatitis symptoms except vomitting. I am told I dont have pancreatitis but have been in trouble for 18 months! Constant pain day and night, worse after eating.

Oily/foul smelling stool but 72-hour stool tests came back normal....

No pancreatities....really? Docs suggest I have a functional problem and that it's nothing to worry about. I think they're very wrong!!!!

I am sorry to hear about your situation.  I am sure you can relate, on one hand its comforting your lab work looks "normal" but then its frustrating to not understand "why am i sick then?"

Could you elaborate on your exact syptoms?  It might help us both to understand one another.  Also have you had success in controlling pain and stomach episodes with diet?  I am planning to switch to a no fat, no trans, cleat diet in the next few days with some small meal portions.

Sorry to hear of your troubles...

      Symtoms I experience:

Abdominal pain, mainly left, sometimes middle and rarely on the right side. It's sometimes a burning sensation that 'prickles' too. It never really goes away

      Stiff/weak hands/joints in fingers

      Groin pain

Brain fog when I wake up (every morning)

      Always thirsty, especialy at night

Sore knees, buring on side of knees

      Neck pain

Loose stool, looks oils, foul smelling

If I sit too long or go for a drive I find it very difficult to straighten my body afterwards, very stiff!

Hope this gives you some kind of idea...
