How quickly before sertraline start working

Posted , 7 users are following.

Just wondered how quickly before sertraline starts working. Started it week ago for anxiety & intrusive thoughts due to zopiclone withdrawal. Previously on 10mg citalopram for couple months but had come off because made my hair fall out. Had a break for week then started half 50mg tablet of sertraline, gp said to take a full tablet after 2 weeks if I feel OK. Feel quite jittery at the moment but did for first couple of weeks on citalopram then settled down. It didn't really help anxiety so hoping will have more success with this, if anyone had good results need some good news!.

everyone is different some people get better sooner and some people later. when you get to 50mg give it 6-8 weeks and you should start seeing some improvements. some people are lucky and it works faster x patience is key.

it's hard at first but slowly you will start to improve

Is it normal to feel worse at first?. Been 9 months of hell since stopped zopiclone in January so desperate find something that helps.. Citalopram didn't do anything and couldn't cope with the hair loss.

Took them for 12 years but for several years just took them couple times a week. When husband had heart attack in 2016 was very stressful time so started taking them every night. Randomly tried cutting down towards end 2018 as had feeling they'd stop me having them, then forced to stop in January this year. Unfortunately think it is the length of time you take things not the dose makes the difference. They are highly addictive, read somewhere more difficult than heroin to come off, SSRI's seem to cause lot less problems hopefully!

correct the longer you been on a med the harder it is to come off.no matter what milligram.saying a prayer for you.

Thank you I keep praying something will help as well. i was told they were non addictive, never reviewed whole time was on them until GP retired then told placebo effect so had come off them and wouldn't have any problems.

yes lema nna taking a Barbiturate for so many years of course it had an effect on you from going cold turkey .thank god that did not happen to me when i went cold turkey from the zip.perhaps because i was on celexa thats probably the reason i did not get withdrawls from the zip.who knows

Yes you were very lucky, just glad I was on a low dose. Some people on higher doses had seizures they're very nasty drugs. Are you still on celexa now? Took the full tablet last night so fingers crossed!

Do you feel tired all the time? Luckily I'm retired but just feel exhausted most of the time even though I'm not doing much due to the anxiety.

how long and what dose of zopliclome was you on ?

Think you already asked me that? Quarter of 7.5 mg tablet, took them on and off for 12 years. The amount you are taking doesnt really make much difference it'S how long you've been on it. Also was made to go cold turkey by the doctor which is what caused the problems.
