How quickly do you get a reaction if your meal is too fatty

Hi all,

Am new to this forum and to Orlistat, and so far so good, but very early days. High blood pressure, badly obese (is there a good obese?) coupled wth the menopause, great! Anyway, decided that HRT and increased dosage of BP pills was not for me and GP offered me Orlistat, never heard of it before, and I finally admitted I had to take responsibility for my body!

Am sticking to low fat diet but wondered how quickly evil things start happening to your bowels/gurgling intestines etc if you overdo it on the fat quota? Any pointers which would help me stick on the straight and narrow with this one would be helpful as well. Am going to join WW but am too horrifed at the prospect of getting on any scales at the moment, that I want to feel thinner before I have the courage to step aboard! Thanks.

    Hi Boo

Welcome to the group, i'm probably not the best to answer this as i've not had any \"bad experiences\" other than a grumbling tummy.

I guess it works as your digestion system works, so a few hours after eating something bad. The great thing is the \"fear\" of something like that happening prevents me from even going there!

    Good luck x

Yep takes 24 hours or so for any effects to appear if I know I've over done the fat intake, never in a matter of hours.
