How's everyone doing?

Hello!

Well I've been given some banana medicine by the doctors instead of the huge antibiotic pills, I finally went for a poo without having to use laxatives (and there was a lot of it!) that's got the be the first time in about three years!

I'm feeling soooo much better! Still early days but I'm starting to do light duties around the house like washing up, tidying the toys away. Still on my sleeping pills but apart from that, I feel good.

Think I started my period, heavy bleeding with belly ache, also I notice if I'm stood up for too long, I get the pullin down below which frightens me.

How's everyone else doing?

Xx

I am now 4.5 weeks post anterior prolapse repair. Have been lucky as my husband is home with me as he took early retirement last year. He has been doing the house work and cooking bless him. My problem has been with tenderness in my vulva area. Have been prescribed oestrogen cream for two weeks and seems to be helping a bit. Will be off from school for 12 weeks as heavy job in the art department.

Hello debra. Sometimes the stitches do take some time to come out but very often you don't know they have. I didn't know when my came out. They are dissolving stitches and often they do just that.........dissolve.

Oki doki thank you..and thank you again for your advice.especially from some one who knows what they're talking about.i just wonder when I'm goin to be ready to go back to work..this is a silly question I no but is it classed as major surgery..?

Roughly how many stitches do you have ??

There are 2 types of stitches used. Long acting ones that take about 3-4 months to dissolve. They are higher up internally and there will be about 10-12 of those but it depends on how the surgeon does the operation. There are less of the short life ones, usually about 6 but again it all depends on the surgeon. As for going back to work depends on what you do. If you're sat in an office then about 8 weeks but if you're on your feet all day then 12 weeks.

When you feel fit enough start cycling short journeys after about 6-8 weeks debra.

Glad that the majority of you are doing well!

I had anterior & posterior repair also a pelvic floor repair! I'm not over doing it or lifting anything heavy.

Matron - do you know roughly when I'll be able to start running again? How about yoga?

The pulling feeling is scary, I checked in the mirror and it looks like my bladder has prolapsed again (I was sat on the loo at the time so maybe it was "gravity"?)

I work in a care home as a carer, four 12hr shifts a week (which is a struggle anyway with four kids, three of which are under 4!) I told them I won't be back for 6 weeks but think I may have to extend it (only had my surgery 11 days ago!)

    Xxx

Laurajadey if you work in a care home I would advise you to wait until you're about 10-12 weeks before you go back to work, at the earliest and absolutely no lifting. Your GP can put on your return to work certificate that you mustn't lift in the comments box.

Yoga should be ok after about 6 weeks as long as you take it very gently and just build up gradually. Running is very different and I wouldn't advise doing any until after 12 weeks but again take it gently to begin with and gradually build it up.

Sorry Laurajadey I should have said you can start lifting around 3 months but ideally you shouldn't lift anything heavy on a regular basis.
