How soon does the tingling go after surgery?

my mum had carpal release surgery yesterday and has a bit of tingling in her fingers today. she has rheumatoid arthritis and the surgeon said it looked inflamed around her tendon...likely due to a flare up 2 weeks ago. we can see it looks swollen beneath the bandage..just below her thumb. she's keeping it elevated. I just wonder if the fact she has arthritis in her wrist, that maybe it's contributing to the rate of recovery? I know it's very early days, but has anyone else had arthritis too or can someone tell me what their day by day recovery was like? I know everyone's experience is different, but it may help me or someone reading this. many thanks
