How to cure red rims with Blepharitis

Hi, I have posted before on this subject. Last time I was at the eye hospital the doctor commented
that my blepharitis was bad with blocked glands. I have just been back to the glaucoma clinic and
this time the I was told that it was not too bad and the glands were not blocked but the rims were
really inflamed. I must say my eyes have felt much better this last few weeks. No so good after all
the eyedrops and lights in the eye etc. I am going to try bicar of soda, as I find the baby shampoo
stings. I had just been using boiled water. I use hot flannel for compresses, tried microwave rice
bag and found it too heavy and dry heat made them worse. I have also tried blephasol, not sure
if it helps or not. My question is what can I do for the red rims which are there even when the eyes
feel pretty good. Any advice? Thanks.

Sympathise with you, it is horrible. I am not sure how to help.
What have you been advised to do and what have you tried?
Changing from baby shampoo to bicarbonate of soda helped
Most. My eyes have been much better for months but I am having a flare up at the moment but not bad. I believe there are
2 types of blepharitis infected and non infected. Others on this forum know about wipes to kill the bacteria and which ones to use.. Have a look at the posts about this. I have never tried them though so can't help there. What are you symptoms and were you diagnosed by your doctor or the eye hospital

One other thing do you by any chance suffer with your skin (face) as blepharitis is sometimes connected to the skin condtion rosacea or seborrheic (not spelt right) dermatitis. Anything else I can help with please ask although can't guarantee I have all the answers. Good luck.
ps light sensitivity can be a problem for some as well.

After 6 years of off again on again and wrongly diagnoses red eye rims I have finally had some relief. In Australia I have been told a it's many of things from allergy to conjunctivitis. After using eye drops after eye drops with maybe a month of normal eyes in between I knew in my heart this was not the case!
It's a horrible feeling having these red eyes. I have been rejected from bottle shops/clubs for looking to intoxicated, have been accused of coming under the influence to work, and I'm constantly asked if I'm sick or why I choose to wear red eye liner.
Recently I moved to Germany where my eye rims have been so inflamed I have just learnt to live with them. Then my partner took me to a German eye doctor!
He confirmed my suspicions. It is in my genes. My uncle, also having sensitive blue eyes had it too. I will have this for life but he gave me a treatment that he said will take 6 weeks to be effective, I saw a difference the next day. I compress my eyes 3 times a day with a boiling hot compression and then he has prescribed me a small ointment to place on my eye rim called dexagent-ophtal augensalibe 5mg.
I'm so happy with the effects I even wore mascara for the first time in 2 years!! I have very sensitive eyes so I do expect redness from time to time due to smoke, pollen, wind, but now I know I have a chance to fight back. Good luck everyone and I hope this helps you

Over a year ago, I began to get styes. None of the prescriptions worked.
List of things I tried:
Tobradex (NOT RECOMMENDED). It can cause cataracts and other vision problems if used too long. For me, while using the 3rd vial, I began to see dramatic vision changes.
Erythrocycin(?) - did nothing
Cipro Drops - did nothing
Cooled Black Tea - it felt good, but didn't cure the styes
Coconut Oil - (same as above)
Warm Milk and Turmeric - no improvement
Diluted Apple Cider Vinegar - no improvement
Fish oil in my eye - lessened the redness, but then my eyes felt very irritated (I was desperate)
Rubbed Povidone Iodine on my cheek bones - took away some of the redness
Povidone eye wash by the doctor - TORTURE - NOT RECOMMENDED
Saline Solution - no improvement
Warm-Hot water on towel applied to eyes - felt good, but, no improvement
"Stye Eye Therapy Warming Compresses" - no improvement
Drank Fresh Vegetable Juices with raw garlic - Some Improvement ++
A few drops of Tea Tree Oil - with a bit of Olive Oil - Improvement +++++
For about 4 months, I've been free and clear of styes and the severe inflammation in my inner lids. My a.m. and p.m. routine:
+ Eyelid wipes (RiteAid)
+ Wash face with Baby Shampoo
+ Add about 3-5 drops of Tea Tree Oil and a bit Olive Oil to your palm,
mix solution, then rub it all over your face and closed eye lids. Leave on face for about 5-10 minutes. Then, apply a compress to your face (warm water/clean towel) for a minute or longer.
From what I've read, Tea Tree Oil works for those who have Demodex (mites).
My eye doctor is a specialist, but they don't have a microscope powerful enough to determine if the issue is caused by mites or not.
This issue, whatever it is/was, caused blepharitis...thickening of the lids, scaring of the rim, and the rim pores looked smooth or closed up.
Even now, I still see some scaring, thickening of the lids, and closed pores. But, it is a huge improvement, so I'll continue to use this remedy till my eyes are completely healed.
I do have IBS and some inflammation issues. So, this is a good reminder to continue juicing, to rest my eyes as needed, and to not cross-contaminate my eyes with the wash cloth.
So, if you have symptoms that sound like mine or if your eyelid looks like mine, consider the remedy above.

One week, I wore sunglasses to work, because everyone seemed to grimmace when they looked at me. haha.

That’s exactly like what I’m experiencing. Thank you for sharing this. I'll go see the eye doctor tomorrow.

it was your photo that led me here. Thank you again. You've already helped so much, by giving me a good starting point to check out. I appreciate these posts.

Okay, I have these red rings or whatever they’re called, in my eyes too. But they’re a new thing to me, this week, I’ve never had them before.
I accidentally poisoned myself with carbon monoxide last week, enough to be considered a moderate amount of poisoning. I'’m already going through crazy new experiences with the poisoning, And I’m already schizophrenic, (and more.) The poisoning will make even a non-schizophrenic person hallucinate, so I have been losing my mind! I'm almost 50 year old and I’ve had schizophrenia all my life so that’s not the part that scares me. It's all these other conditions that I'm experiencing. I have never had problems with erectile dysfunction until I got sick with carbon monoxide poisoning. That dysfunction is so severe that my reproductive organ won’t function at all, for reproductive purposes anymore . And that’s about like a 360 degree turn for me, from only one week ago. And now there’s deep, blood-red, circles in my lower eyelids.
And you all are talking about glaucoma?
I looked up the circles and was led here by a photo with a link for the blepharitis...
Please, someone, anyone, try to help me understand what THIS PART is, so i can better fight this and thereby have a better chance at survival. please, anyone? I'm starting to get scared.. I'm a disabled widower dad with two kids.. they only have me to protect, and provide for them in the world now. EVERYONE else is gone now..
I have very, very limited medical options, so I'm taking the long road to fight this all off; Prednisone and Exposure.
Did I just get glaucoma, too, from all of this? I have a short video of myself inspecting my eyelids. The red ring goes from one side of my bottom eyelid, all the way to the other side, in both eyes.
Thank you, in advance, for anything you may be able to tell me.
