How to get diagnosed? Job troubles too

Posted , 3 users are following.

Thanks for sharing your troubles

I have been feeling horrible and it upsets me because im too young (22). My job is giving me such a hard time when it comes to finding me work. I have read that people with multiple sclerosis are difficult to work with.

(I got diagnosed while working with the company)

How do I legitimately get diagnosed?

What happens if my supervisor is not helping get me reasonable accommodation?

What do I do when I feel discriminated against?

This issue is affecting me badly

Any advice??

Please help

Thanks

    Hiya

I'm still waiting for my diagnosis myself, so I'm unsure as to what part of the process you're in, have you seen a neurologist and had an mri /lumbar puncture done?

I know lots of people are offered an ms nurse as support, is this something you could ask your gp surgery about.?

      Hey

I haven't gotten the lumbar puncture(plan to) however I did get the mri and it showed ms leisions. He wanted to give it time to develop ( 3 months ) to take another MRI and see if it got worse.

The neurologist that viewed my MRI results wrote down my restrictions so that I can get reasonable accommodation (a chair) but he wrote it in cursive and I faxed it to my job. After I sent it I talked to them over the phone about my restrictions and accommodation

Its been 3months and no job.

I do security its not difficult to find a position that has a chair I can sit on in my opinion.

I feel like shes discriminating against me.

She doesn't pick up my phone calls anymore or answer my text. She says shes always busy or in meetings. She used to contact me alot but since I mentioned to her the problems I was having and my diagnosis

      She changed.

      What should I do??

Do mri`s give the diagnosis or do I have to get a legit answer from someone else?

      No sure if thats understandable...

      Thanks

I presume when you go back for your three month check with your neurologist, he'll be able to give you a more definite answer regarding diagnosis. Can you get anything in writing from your gp at all for your employer?

      Hey

I did get something in writing and I also talked to my employer about accommodation she couldn't find me anything. After she finally picked up my phone call 5minutes later the HR manager requested my restrictions written in print instead of in cursive.

Ill be sending it to her this week coming up.

I think my supervisor went about this situation all wrong.

I have the feeling that ive been pushed to the back burner with my condition. She will get my WRITTEN restrictions soon. I really want to go back to work its just been so hard to find a legit answer.

There is something going on with my body and if its not ms I'll be alright I just need an answer I cant do my job without a chair that is why this restriction letter needs to get sent soon to my employer. Im basically broke lol

Im afraid that when she does get the restriction letter it'll still be difficult to find work for me. It's soo unfair!!

      Thanks

Im in UK I've not had a lumbar puncture I got my diagnosis after evojed potentials and back and head MRI. In UK ms means your rdg disabled and have disability rights. Why do you think ms people are difficulty to work with,? You are young and may get help from that treatment they give cancer patients ..re-booting immune system. No two consultants say same thing about ms. .sorry you have it. Don't take sweetners like aspartame. Kindest Lorraine
