How to sit

Hi fellow Hippies

I was wondering if you have any suggestions on what is the best way to sit - not after surgery - but now until surgery. When on the computer I sit on an office chair with my feet a bit elevated. When watching TV I sit in a straight chair (Club-chair) with my feet up on an ottoman. I don't know what is best as I am in pain both ways.

    Hi Kaura

Sit whatever way is comfier for you at the moment it does not matter. After your op they will tell you how not to sit. Like dont cross your legs ect. Right now just try to get a comfy position thats best for you

    Hi Kaura

My best advice is to get into the habit of NOT crossing your legs and try and sleep on your back for a while if you can. It will help post surgery. Don't sit too long in any position I think if you are close to surgery any position will be painful sleeping was awful. When do you go in?

    Hi Kaura,

I remember the pain I was in prior to my hip replacement.  I work in an office and sit for most of the day.  I couldn't really find any position that worked.  I do remember that getting up and moving around each hour helped though.  I was also taking prescription pain meds after I was diagnosed and until the surgery.

Best of luck with your surgery!

Watching Tv I used to sit however was ok. Moving position often. I used to sit in the most unladylike positions sometimes.

At the computer I use a saddle stool. Also have used a kneeler chair in the past.
