How to stop being nauseous..

Ive been struggling with anxiety & depression for 2,5 years now.
I always have this issue with nausea when I'm stressed and after eating a meal its even worse. I wanted to go to the hairdresser just a hour ago which is already a stressful place for me. I just ate dinner and I was heading to hairdresser.. And well, I was to nauseous to go.. This nausea gives me anxiety, because I'm afraid I'll puke in public. Now I'm sitting at home again depressed. Hate me life.

this symptom has been the biggest problem with anxiety and me for 15 years. horrible but definitely a tell tale sign of anxiety quite common. peppermint tea can be good but I've found nothing to ease when really bad. I think for me I have emetophobia I do anything to avoid that. I can't even say the word without worrying if it!!

It's horrible. I have it a lot times in public and that's one of the main problems why I avoided places. Now I'm trying the best to get back on track, but I still have this thing very often mostly in situations where I can't get out whenever I can. It's all mentally of course, but it's a real struggle to get rid of it. Thee helps indeed, but you can't get a cup of thee everywhere you are. I'm anxious to eat outside my door. It's pretty ridiculous. Visiting a restaurant is a nightmare..

Yeah agree it is ridiculous but also very real. I very rarely eat out because of this problem. Certainly cant get a cup of tea anywhere. Im hoping others do give some hints as I am keen also.
They do say breathing slowly sometimes can help occasionally it does for me particularly at lower levels. Something like breath in 1,2,3,4 out 1,2,3,4 and then every cycle of four of these hold the breath for 1,2,3,4. Apparently the breath hold in particular helps turn off the anxiety response. Also this needs to be practice when not anxious as much a lot.......says I who doesnt do that often as I should!

yeah its horrible and bit of the anxiety cycle the fear of it seems to cause the nausea ironically which then make it worse and worse. Very annoying, I had a change of medication from mirtazapine to escitalopram recently which has helped settle the constant nausea and panic resulting from...still get nauseas but was at non functional nausea almost all the time. Its worth chatting to GP/or a Psychiatrist to see what options they recommend too.
The hairdresser thing was a problem for me too simply sitting there having hair done invoked close to panic severe nausea.
Horrible thing.

It is. I'm now at the hairdresser and I feel so bad... 😦 No matter how many times I'll go although I have stress, it doesn't change

Hi,
Here are some tips to control nausea:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks.
Eat light, bland foods (such as saltine crackers or plain bread).
Avoid fried, greasy, or sweet foods.
Eat slowly and eat smaller, more frequent meals.
Do not mix hot and cold foods.
Drink beverages slowly.
Avoid activity after eating.
Thanks.

Okay that's interesting. Not mixing cold and hot foods is something I've never tried, so I'll give it a shot. Avoiding activity after eating is indeed something which helps, but sometimes it's difficult to actually do that. And when I'm eating outdoors it's of course impossible as well. But maybe if I'll try these things at home first it may start getting better outdoors when time goes by.
