Hpv, warts or pimple? Help

Posted , 3 users are following.

I went for smear test about 3 months ago and came back with only very little abnormal cells so only need to check up again once a year. However this past month i shaved and found multiple spots! I am very worried and they dont look very nice. Anyone who can help or advice? What do you think? image

    Dear Annie,

It could be either genital warts or molluscum contagiosum (MC). Both are sexually-transmitted virus infections, but if you have had Gardasil (HPV vaccine) then genital warts is much less likely.

Plenty of online information available, but you should see your doctor to confirm the diagnosis and get yourself and your partner checked for other STDs.

    Rgds,

Thanks so much for this info. Regarding MC, i never heard of it so gave it a google... Apparently when popped something comes out. Ive also tried popping mine which I know isn't a good idea but mine cant seem to be popped, seems to be just skin! Does this rule out MC?

Not necessarily. It's time to see your doctor to get yourself sorted.

yes at a glance i wouldnt say these are warts given the solid round texture however, i would be most confident saying this is most likely molliscum

I agreed with Adhari. Please stop shaving to avoid spreading. Only trim. I suggest you to get Pap Smear+Hpv Dna test for you next pap.
