HRT 10 years after hysterectomy

I had my hysterectomy 10 years ago. Over about the last 5 years I have been suffering with aching bones and muscles, depression, tired all the time. I am 56.  I didn’t go on HRT because my doctor at the time said not to because of my family history of ovarian cancer (that’s why I had my hysterectomy). Do you think HRT might help me. Thank you

Julie, this is a hard one.  Yet quality of life is worth a lot.  I'm assuming you have had everything checked i.e. thyroid, adrenal gland, insulin tested.  It sure seems that this point in life causes changes that we don't want or like. And there are many women who love their HRT.  So I guess the best thing is to decide if a trial of HRT would at the very least answer your questions.

We only have one life to live.

Hi Julie .. I think if you should discuss this with your GP I have been taking HRT for over 7 years now .. Had all the symptoms you have but my anxiety was deff the worse one! I feel a  different person on HRT. I take combined as I have my womb as long as you have your checks it's fine. Quality of life is so important I wouldn't look back, Good luck.
