Hi there, I have tried many different patch combinations but the progesterone is always an issue as i seem to be progesterone intolerant...
I have used evorel 50 sequi snd was fine with the oestrogen side of it but not the progesterone.
I then tried other brands but now am back on evorel 25 oestrogen only patches with utrogestan pessaries added in for the last 10 days of my cycle...
I use patches as the drug in them bypasses the liver unlike tablet forms and so the risk of clots etc is greatly reduced.
Yes I guess there are other risks but you have to make that personal decision to either have a go or not and weigh up the pro's and con's for you.
I was too young to go through the menopause so I mainly use HRT to try and protect my bones and other aging factors plus i was really struggling with symptoms - that said, for me its not been a wonder drug - it only takes the edge off the symptoms.
My mother was on HRT patches for nearly 20 years and felt like Wonder Woman the whole time!
Good luck. xxxx

Honestly, now you've told me more i do feel you've done the right thing.
The oestrogen patch did get rid of my aches and pains and i did think it could be a good thing but then i also have to use progesterone and that's where it all goes wrong. I really, really wish I didn't have to use the progesterone too as it just does not suit my body and I've now tried 4 different kinds... hopefully, as you don't have to use it - you'll continue to do well on the oestrogen patch.
Yes, use the lowest dose possible but that does also give you relief... try the 25 patch as I have but I have to say that I don't get the relief from it that I did with the 50. I've just finished my first month on this regime and although the progesterone pessaries didn't give me side effects like the caps, my legs really ached badly. So, I may see how I go for another month but then may up the oestrogen to 50 and see what happens and if the leg pain eases... it's all a bit trial and error until you get the right regime for you but as i said - hopefully you will carry on with good results! 😃

ps... I'm 47, my doctor did say that although C is a risk... at our age it's a bit smaller one. I agree that it is a huge consideration though. Something to be aware of. See how you go and if you're really not happy then you can always stop the HRT... nothing is permanent - you're in control. x

hi Barney,
i have been on HRT patches estalis continuous 50/140 for maybe 7mths or so.
i guess it came down to what was worse... the horrendous symptoms that i couldn't function through or the possibility of one day getting C .... As i ended up in a psychiatric hospital because i was pushed to suicide yeah HRT was my only chance. i also have carbamazepine to stop the burning skin and mouth. now carbamazepine makes hrt less affective so they upped my hrt, unfortunately I can not cope with the higher progesterone causing the worse migraines I'd ever had and i have lived with migraines. i take Duloxetine and metazapine in combination to stop the pain. I can now function but again unfortunately i have breakthrough burning on my scalp and face.
HRT i think is for when you're at the end of the line and nothing else has helped.
hope you find relief
