HRT alternatives

I may not be prescribed HRT for medical reasons, have appointment to discuss tomorrow, but histology has to go for further discussion with oncologist. If the doc says no, I'd consider trying homeopathic alternatives or Clonidine for hot flashes. Anyone have any experience of these? Any recommendations? I'd like to try and settle things a bit before I return to work in 2 weeks, sleep disturbed also

Not as good as regular HRT and you should get another doctor if your's won't give it to you.  I went thru it all without anything except for the alternatives and they barely took the edge off.

Thanks, Edith, still waiting for appointment but he may recommend no HRT if there's a cancer risk. Did anything at all help you with sleep disturbances? I feel like a zombie!!

An antidepressant might help if he doesn't give you HRT.  Getting cancer from HRT is very low.  i would take it and then after 6 months start reducing the dosage.  It will give you time to heal without all the ups and downs.  make sure to get enough calcium and vitamin D each day (1,200 mg of calcium and at least 800 units of vitamin D per day.  Vitamin D is really important.

There are problems with herbal remedies too.  I would talk to your doctor about them too.
