HRT and hot flushes

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well? Haven't posted for a wee while. Apart from my post op issues I'm having issues with hot flushes. Now I'm not sure if they are normal as I had ovaries removed and was immediately put onto elleste solo 2mg. I assumed that 10 weeks the flushes would settle but still getting them really bad. Are any of you the same? Xxx

I'm on a hrt gel and I had my op four months ago and I still get hot flushes but it only seems to be over night some people go on hrt and it works but overs don't have any success you could try asking your doctor if you can up the dose and see if that works hope you get it sorted  Lyn x

I had my ovaries removed as well and I started taking HRT via Estraderm patches.I wasn't hardly sleeping either but I couldn't get on with these patches so I changed to tablets 6 weeks ago.Estradiol 1mg is what I take now and they are brilliant. No more hot flushes and I sleep so much better.I am nearly 14 weeks post op but the tablets started to work within the week.

Oh I might speak to my gp then. I cannot sleep at all. Nod off for a couple of hours then wide awake. It's a nightmare xx

I used to watch every hr pass by and then I might of dropped of about 4 am for an hr or 2.It was really getting my down. You are meant to take the tablets the same time every night and generally I go to bed about the same time so I keep the tablets by my bed so I don't forget to take them.

    Hi.

I am 15 weeks post op and use oestrogel. No hot flushes since using it.

Occasionally I feel hot in the night but the weather is warm just now so just putting it down to that. Hope you get it sorted.

      Hi Lee,

Great to hear from you,how are you feeling?I haven't posted for a while as I thought everything seemed to have gone quiet with a lot of the regular ladies.I am now early 14 weeks post op and am now on 30 hrs a week back at work from this week.I am seeing my dr tomorrow for a check up on my HRT and about my return to work.I quite enjoyed it when I only worked 3-4 hrs a day but I am not far off from being full time again.

      Hi Teresa.

Yes I have not been posting as most of us are back to work now and busy. I'm off on two weeks annual leave but not looking forward to increasing my hours. I still feel tired. After my leave I go back on 20 hours a week for two weeks but I'm thinking of handing in my notice as fancy a change. I can't see me going back to full time. Not with BT anyway.  My scar sometimes stings too. Do you get that?

      Hi Lee,

My scar doesn't sting but if I stand too long my stomach feels really tight.I feel really bloated still and I have put a lot of weight back on.I do like my food though.I am going on a cruise on Aug 1st for 12 nights and you can eat for 24 hrs if you want to.I am still very conscious with how much i am lifting.I will do this until I am at least 6 months post op.I will check with my dr tomorrow.

Yes I feel bloated too. I start my Pilates next week.

Oh a cruise. Where are you going?  Me and hubby looking at one but he is a teacher so we can only go on holiday in term time and the ones I saw were in nov and jan. I think I have put on about a stone since op. But I have not been exercising so suppose that's expected.

We go from Southampton to Guernsey then Liverpool,Ireland,Scotland andt then Le Havre in France. We are lucky enough to get tickets to see the Edinburgh Tattoo. We are travelling on the Royal Princess and we have got a balcony room at the very back of the ship.Where is you nearest port? You can google to get a cruise ship schedule for the year from the port and then you can narrow it down to where you want to go and how long for and you can see very easy what is available.

That sounds great. Hope you get good weather. I think the nearest port is Rosyth in Fife. I will do that but I was looking at med and Caribbean. I am 50 in jan so we wanted to go away but I think we will wait till we retire and then we can go when we like and not when school dictates. Have a great holiday. Let me know how it goes. Edinburgh tattoo is great. I live in Dundee x

Sounds exciting Teresa. Just what you need after your op.

Time to get away from it all and have some fun.

      Lucky you xx

      Hi Lee,

I didn't have a good start to my day today. My doctors appointment was at 8.50am and when I got there the receptionist said that I didn't have an appointment booked.I explained that my doctor booked it her self and that didn't make a difference.I asked for my doctor to ring my later on.I got told that she finished at midday but I hadn't heard anything back by 3.15pm so I rang my surgery again. They had a message to book me another appointment. The only one that fitted in with my work was July 22nd which I took. She has got a lot of time off this week and she only really works mornings most of the time so it is very difficult to get an appointment with her.I have had a busy day where I have been standing for 4hrs.Tomorrow I am working my first late night again since my op.I will be doing 3.15-9.15 but because I only get a 30 min break I am starting an extra 20 mins earlier to give me another break.

      Take care

      luv

OMG Teresa. That is horrendous. Bet that made you feel rubbish today. Can you see another doctor?  You are maybe rushing it. I know for a fact I couldn't do 6 hours. Especially at night time. I hope you get an ok sleep tonight to prepare you for it. I know it's easy for me to say but try and take it easy tomorrow.  Let me know how it goes. I will be thinking about you xx

I don't want to see another doctor as I feel something like this should be followed up with my own doctor as she has been there from the start for me.I will have a good lie in tomorrow.I have seen the rota for tomorrow and I am working on the customer service desk standing up the whole shift and I will be working on my own from 5.30-9.15pm.I have 2 coffee machines to shut down and clean aswell and they take a good 25mins each and I have to get down on my hands and knees cleaning out chillers and cupboards. There is a lot of stretching aswell to remove all the parts to be washed.I am not looking forward to it.I have Weds off to recover except I have to go to a hospital with my Mum but that isn't until 2pm.

Yes I know what you mean keeping the same doctor. I have kept the same one too right through the process. Tomorrow sounds tiring for you. Hopefully it will go easier than you imagine. I struggle to bend down a lot. My scar still feels a bit tight. You need to try and have a lie in on wed morning.

Will be thinking about you tomorrow
