Hello ladies
I was lucky enough to see my gyne for a check up at the vulva clinic before all this madness. As well as LS she says i have uroginal astrophy. She initially precribed vagifem pessary. I found it so uncomfotable as the stick pessary was so thin i gave up with it after a few days. someone suggested i may be dry up there so spoke to gp. She has given me the cream alternative Ovestin to try although still a pessary stick but it was better shaped. First use last night, it feels a bit stingy obviously the cream is now working its way down. Any advise? Is this normal? How long does it take to settle ? I should try and persevere i know

Hello there I have LS and am going through a diagnosis for another auto immune disease which causes dryness so, like yourself, my gynae recommended trying Vagifem. I have some difficulty with the insertion of Canesten pessaries as I am so dry so I tend to use a lubricant on the stick to help with that. I've not tried the Vagifem yet as again, like yourself, a lot of what I try seems to make things worse rather than better. But I may do in time. I have used other lubricant creams that you can buy to insert into the vagina which, after some trying and testing, I found to be quite helpful in easing dryness. I definitely have the atrophy as I have trouble passing urine at times too.
So, hopefully, maybe trying some lubricant will help with the insertion of cream. Regarding it causing irritation I wouldn't stay it with too long without advice or you will end up worse off. It's so difficult getting a good balance in these things. I wish you well. x

Hi Paula
I spoke to gp again today. She doesnt want me to try anything else at this point if im not reacting well to both the pesseries. She would rather i go back to gyne but at this point as we all know is impossible. so in the meantime i have stopped found the ingrediants within Ovestin glycerin has caused thrush i think so need to get that in order. yep a combination of things. I also joined face book group for LS someone suggested using a lubricant to insert vagifem or mix the ovestin cream with emolliant then gradually increasing. i think for me the Ovestin is a no no as it burns. I may try the vagifem again with a lub but will leave it for now giving me too much stress. Take care x

I discovered that too in using vaginal moisturisers that glycerin only caused thrush which I am prone to anyway with my issues. I have no idea why they keep putting it in these things, it's crazy ! No use keeping up something that burns, poor you. I wish you well in finding something that suits. And it is very difficult that access to a consultant has stopped for now when living with such a condition. Thank you for replying and take care x
